thanks guys. I guess the reason for the post was because I thought maybe I was looking at something wrong. Because it does seem like Roehl is the better choice of the two.

China -- yes national dry van.

Tank actually might not be a bad way to start. Smaller trailer both in height and length could help keep a new guy out of trouble. Fixed tandems all the way at the rear so no tail swing to worry about. From what I remember it pays better per mile but doesn't give you as many miles per week. Downside I heard you shut down in weird places a lot which would be tougher for a new guy.

Where did you get the 1800 miles a week info? I've been set on starting with Roehl dry van for awhile now but only 1800 miles at .35? wow that's low. I read 2200 is about average not 1800

I can count the times I've seen a Millis truck on I80 in Iowa on one hand. Don't think I've ever seen one west of I35. That seems strange given that they are closer to Minneapolis than to Milwaukee but that's the way it is. I personally would lose my mind if I had to drive I75 north and south as much as they do. Roehl seems like they're making a move and getting bigger. The reefers are a good addition. There are a lot of products that used to go in a van that are now being shipped in a reefer at 60F° due to new food safety rules. That's only going to be increasing. Seems like Roehl will have the freight

that is the number they give you "conservatively" when you first go solo. it doesn't stay that low. it goes up as you become more capable of handling loads and making deliveries.
it is just a matter of them not throwing you in the fire right away.

Keep in mind you aren't sitting in a trainer's truck for 7-8 weeks with Roehl.

Millis pays 32cpm now, and that's only if you select their per diem pay option. Straight pay option pays 37cpm. Fuel bonuses are very easy to hit and are paid monthly. Mileage bonuses are also easy to hit as well, especially if you run OTR. Just my 2 cents.
