I got my class A CDL a few weeks ago and wanting to get started hauling asap. I've been in touch with a few different transport companies, and they require "1-3 yrs cld driving exp." I've been pulling trailers for over 20 yrs. I currently work for a construction company pulling a 30' gooseneck hauling equipment etc..on a one ton every day for the last 3 years (many times illegally). Question is, do yall know of any companies I can look into to get started with?
Thanks for any help

Forgot to mention I'm in Houston area.

Craigslist.... Also reach out to LTL carriers, and concrete/aggregate companies.

Try Freymiller; they just might hire you.Do the online application then follow with a phone call; "I'm checking on my job application."
Ignore what any website has about "experience required" and apply anyway if you like the company.
Try :
Freymiller
Western Dairy Transport
FFE (Frozen Food Express)
Roehl Transportscottlav46 Thanks this. -
I just realized you're on the hotshot forum; those companies I listed won't work then. They're the "big truck" companies.

Well, I got rejected a few times due to my "lack of experience". I'll keep trying. Thank yall for the replies and suggestions. Let me know if yall have any other leads.
Thanks -
Do you have your own equipment (truck, trailer, gear) or want to be hired on as a driver?

I don't at the moment, but I can have all the goods within a week or so. I'm currently at a full time construction job that takes up 70-80 hrs a week, so that makes it hard without taking vacation time (which we don't have believe it or not). I'm gonna have to put in my 2 weeks notice to have the time to buy all that. I found a truck and trailer already just need to go get it . -
Honestly, I would not quit your day job to jump into the hotshot world. Times are tough, good paying loads are hard to find, and the startup cost is not cheap. Just my opinion..

I got lucky and found a company that is in need of another hotshot driver and they basically hired me I just gotta get my stuff together. I'm pretty dang nervous about it but I'm all in and want to take a risk . My current job sucks bad and will not make a career here, I know I'll be good at hauling and they are very busy so I think I'm making the right desision. Excited but nervous as hell.
