hvac flaps stuck on floor

Is it still under warranty? Is it digital display?

 

It is electrical. if you remove the fuse panel cover and look back behind all the ducting you might be able to see the actuator that controls the heater doors. It's kind of behind the 2 ducts that come up for the 2 middle vents. Not easy to get to.
You'll have to remove the glove box. There's a dash support between the 2 fuse panels, it will need to come out, there's the 2 screws on the front, 2 bolts inside the dash, and 2 bolts on the engine side of the firewall. If yTheou have short arms you'll have to remove the 3 bolts holding the main fuse panel in so you can reach back to where the actuator is. Now comes the part that can suck.
The actuator is held on with 3 nuts and there's a self threading screw that attaches it to the door guide, try to not knock the guide out of place because you'll really hate life then. The actuator is easier to get out than get back in, the ducting goes right up over top of it and can be a real headache.

Why not just come in from the fire wall side? just remove the main power junction. Then you will be looking right at it.

 

Newer stars don't have the removable panel on the firewall where the power cables pass through. They just have 2-3 insulated studs that the power and ground cables are attached to that pass through the firewall. Not having that panel there anymore also makes it a real pain to replace the passenger side pivot for the windshield washer arms.

 

Hey guys. I'm new to the forum and have what i think may be the same issue. I just bought a used 2000 western star tri axle dump . It has some issues that needs to be figured out but this one has me stumped. The guy I bought the truck from was honest and told me the heat didn't work. He had given me 2 air cylinders and said he never gotten around to it. So when I got it back to into my shop I started looking into it. I traced 4 small air lines. Blue green red and clear from the heater control unit. They go up behind the fuse box and back behind the ducting. The red line was capped as well as the clear line. The green and blue lines appear to be attached to something but I can't see to what. I can barely see the cylinder and can feel the rod with the ilet is broken. I have a few questions. 1. Since this is an older truck can it be accessed through the fire wall? 2. Where should the red and clear line go? 3. How many actuators are back in there? I attached a photo of the cylinders he gave me. One has a red cap and other has a blue. This is the first western star I've owned so it's all new to me. Any input would be great thanks.

 

Throw me the last 6 of your vin and I can look up the schematic and other drawings for your HVAC air system.

I probably have one in my tool box, but I'm not 100% sure. It's been a long time since we've had one of those styles come to the shop.
