Lil Daddy, I have read some of your posts with great interest and we share a strong desire to stay in shape while on the road. I am still in training with Service Transport, a tanker outfit out of St. Gabriel, LA. I have already noticed some weight gain because of the truck stop crap food I have to eat right now. When I have my own rig, my diet will improve significantly because I will be carrying my own healthy food.

In your posts you say that you manage to hit the gym 2-3 times a week while on the road. My request to you is this - could we use this thread (or one you start) to give locations of gyms that are relatively easy to access for truckers. I will have a foldaway bike to make it easier to get to gyms. I will be actively looking for gyms once I am on my own. I am willing to make the sacrifices it takes to stay in shape.

If we start this and share information, perhaps others might join in and share information with us.

I would appreciate any information you could share with me.

I agree. some info on where gyms are located would be nice...especially ones that have parking for big rigs.

Being into sports, fitness and now making a career change to trucking, staying in shape is a concern for me as well. If you think about it, you can stay in shape if you want to. Just depends on your drive. Why not try making healthy meals to take with you while on the road? Or, why not make healthy choices at the truck stop? I mean, really, you can't tell me that between a burger and fries, you couldn't get something grilled, ie, chicken, and a salad, or fruit, nuts, etc.

As for gyms, there are TONS of LA Fitness' and 24 Hr Fitness and other franchise gyms. They have location maps on their websites, just find out where they are relative to your routes. So, you have to pay a daily, or if you are member of one of them, even better. I know that LA Fitness, for 24 bucks a month, you can have access to EVERY LA Fitness in the country. And, they are located, alot of times, near main access roads, and highways.

    Its not hard.....if you try.
