Read your post again. There are many people in the farming area that have quite a large amount of commercial farm driving before they reach 18. I was just clarifying your point. Make sense?

Ok, I guess I should of said 12 months of experense "with" a DL. I grew up out in the country and was driving by age 11. Had my own car to get around in at age 12, so I had 5 years of experense by the time I got my license, but that is different than what I meant in this thread.

I am currently dealing with this same problem.I hadnt drove for a few years, got my CDL A applied to numerous companies to find out i needed 1-2 years regular driving experience depending on which company it was.

I got my CDL June 20th 2008 and have to sit on it until Mid January :(. I am thinking i may need to take a refresher course by then since it would be 7 months and I havent drove an inch since I received my CDL. I am currently working in Shipping/receiving and everyday I see trucks pulling up to my docks ,boy does it suck :(.

From what i gather it isnt really the company that demands that you have 1 year+ regular driving experience, it is the insurance company that does. 5 more months and counting arrrgh,Good luck.
