Would it be adviseable to carry more than one cell phone while on the road? What I am asking is....I have Verizon, and having driven cross country, I lose service. even though the commercial says, "No Dead Zones" *wink-wink*. Would it be better to have more than one wireless phone service when driving? i.e., a Verizon phone, and an ATT phone.

No I would just stick to one phone you will have problems with dead zones even if you have more than one plan it is the tower service if you are out in the middle of no where you are going to have problems. Check with different services and see where you are going to be traveling the most at and see who has the best coverage area In my choice I like Verizon the best I have had other services

In short, if the verizon phone doesn't work, it won't be long until you're in a service area. carry a couple bucks worth of quarters for a pay phone if needed. just keep it simple. -
You are also going to have drop out in hilly terrain and other areas. One cell phone should be enough. We are using US Cellular, and don't have very many problems with them either. My hubby keeps a plastic cup with a lid on it that he drops all of his change into, so he always has some extra for a pay phone if necessary (if you can find one these days), but he hasn't needed to use a pay phone.

While your phone concerns multiple carriers, I actually carry a second Verizon phone, on a 9.99 line, so that I am able to switch the primary line to the backup phone if the primary breaks (like the time it took a header coming down Donner Pass, despite being in a holder with a velcro wrap!)!

How about Nextell. Is there overall coverage any good?
-
I use Alltell for a primary cell phone, but also carry the trac phone I had for a short time in-between cell providers. Sometimes one works better than the other, the trac phone is about .10 cents per minute so I don't use it much, but with no contract it is nice to have.
Also, If I am home and on the phone with someone I really don't want to talk to, but can't just get away from(like a chick you'd meet in a bar) I can always call one cell from the other while on the land line and say "thats work, Gotta go" lol -
I had nextel hen I switched to the new hybrid phones that used sprint service with the nextel direct connect both were crap.
except for the sprint air cards they are pretty good.
My trainer had verizion and he did have some areas that had no service but those were few and far between.
He had service were I did not. -
My son, the Chicken Hauler and I have T-Mobile and there is not very many times that I can't get a hold of him, unless he doesn't want to be gotten.
-
I have been coast to coast north to south and east to west.
Some companies do not have good service in alot of areas but I can honestly say verizion has not failed to have service for more than a couple of miles if even that long.
