Sorry Mack, I apologize. I'm sortta embarrassed that I allowed myself to get to that point. If you want, MODS can delete or modify my posts from 201 down. I know this thread helps a lot of people out with questions about UPSF. I won't let it happen again.

i do not mind the heated discussions, but there is no need to get into any arguments here.......yet.

OK, as far as beards: To the best of my knowledge, NO BEARDS FOR DRIVERS PERIOD is the official company policy.

    a) Now as far as Overnite employees with beards being "grandfathered" into the new company. That is very likely true although i'm not 100% on that either. However, there are definitely many drivers who have beards and were Overnite drivers and are now UPSF drivers who are still wearing beards. So for all practical purposes, yes they have been "grandfathered in" so to speak.

    b) As far as drivers with beards who were never Overnite employees, every terminal treats this differently. My terminal is pretty strict as far as rules, yet many drivers here have beards. So, again every terminal treats this differently.

    c) Let's put it this way: Here's a little secret about UPS Freight: Every terminal does things differently in general, not just beards.
What could get you a warning or write up and one terminal, another terminal could care less about and vice-versa.

Some terminals have different (better quality trucks and equipment).
Even the terminals themselves are different----some you think you've stepped into the 60's or 70's which i actually like. Some are huge, some have no space.

Despite the "slight" inconsistencies with policies from terminal to terminal, i want to make clear that i feel UPSF is still one of the best organized companies i've ever worked for.

As far as shirts, yes they are grey and they must be tucked in. You could leave it untucked, but it's likely a manager will have something to say about that. i would just tuck it in.

Will post more checkstubs when there is time.

Just get the shirts that don't have to be tucked in. Forget what they are called on the order sheet.

Sorry it took so long to update---was and am very busy.

Rats! They didn't scan out good; Will take more care next time---i'm in a hurry.

    1) In other news, i ran linehaul for a while and as you can see the pay is pretty dam good. i should have more linehaul checks around here somewhere but may have threw them out, but they are THAT FAT and even FATTER---$1300 +. Now, for someone who has reached top seniority, then $1600+ for doing nightliner---that is going to the same terminal everynight and coming directly home.

i do not like working all night and then trying to sleep during the day no matter how much it pays, but more on that later.

    2) We recently re-bid on all runs-----we do this every 6 months. i ended up taking extra board. The job is finally FUN again; No more rushing around----instead of 14 pallets going to 14 different customers, i might have 6 going to one, 4 going to another etc. and then done. Then either start making pickups or go back and get another trailer. And i get to go to different places everyday----sometimes wild places. Example went INSIDE a collesium to deliver construction materials. Last week delivered sand to a children's playground----and actually poured some sand into the sandbox for fun.

i debated on taking dock/cdl as the money would have been 68K starting next month----because then i go to $20/hr. For a person at top seniority it's over 100K!!!! But i decided i didn't want to wake up every morning at 4 (or earlier) and get off at 5-6 pm----it would have been at least 12 hrs a day.

i'm learning money isn't everything. i'm happier where i'm at. The job is actually FUN now. The money difference between dock/cdl combo and extra board might only be 12K less----if that.

RUSHING RABBIT = NOT RUSHING ANYMORE.

that's interesting to know. I thought Linehaul paid a lot more. I'm assuming it does with seniority. b

@Russian Rabbit You're right - there's a lot to be said for digging your job. No amount of extra money is worth it if you hate the job itself. I recently switched to night linehaul at my company and actually enjoy the schedule and the job, but I was struggling until I got my bedroom totally dark. But I can certainly understand why a lot of drivers can't or don't want to do linehaul.

Only the first check in this series is a full week of linehaul. i think the second week i only worked one day linehaul and then after that i switched back to daytime work. (not liking the nighttime, sleep during the day thing.......) (have a full month of FAT linehaul checks but can't find them right now)

Anyone at top seniority who is working linehaul IS MAKING BIG BUCKS. i mean even at my payrate i would be making 67K ($1300 x 52 = $67600) Average linehauler pay at top rate has to be at least 78K.

Teams with seniority that are not afraid to work make over $100.000.00 a year out of Kansas City and Chicago.
