I reviewed jb before hiring on to know what I was getting into. Unfortunately, jb is living up to the rumors. If you don't mind 2000 miles or less per week AVERAGED, @ around .40 cpm living in a box approximately 2-3 weeks at a time then this place is for you. Do the math guys, 288 hours at their discretion of which you ARE working 14 hours a day....not much of a money making opportunity. Upside, you have a job and health benefits, but because of the tyrannical way they are about "safety", don't be surprised if you're fired before you can be there 6 months to a year.

I spent a few weeks with JB against my better instincts. They pay the moment the 5th wheel attaches to your load you are dropping and hooking to. Deductions, taxes etc all there with the Netpay ready to go however you want it. (Half to the wife, rest cash is how I did mine)
Why did I stop? Wife gave me the ultimate her way or no way. Up to that point in time, I never not wanted to haul anywhere, the dispatcher I had actually was one of the best and frankly with such a dispatcher who listened to what I say and worked around me and my hours was a keeper.
You cannot stay with JB and fail to continue training. They push training of different kinds. The freight and the money would have taken care of itself. You are already aware that trucking and miles is feast and famine. You always put aside enough in times of prosperity to endure the times in which you might have a bowl of chili and a bag of chips for several days.
To deliberately have a negative attitude makes me consider you poison of a kind. I know that I myself are not without sin and cannot throw a stone myself. But life has a funny way of making sure those who are going to get up and be mean and nasty continue to be hit on the head with problems until you stop being mean and nasty.

Need way more details. What area was this in, was it Intermodal or what? Sounds like OTR, does JBH even do that anymore? Where you working a account a long distance from your home and that's why you where in the truck 2-3 weeks average? .40 cents a mile sounds rite for a lot of the accounts for part of your pay but if it's OTR I know I wouldn't even take the job at that rate unless I was a brand new driver. Some areas can be light do to multiple reasons including incompetent management. My area is pretty light overall for JBH coverage. Unfortunately these kind of reviews are TAKEN AS GOSPEL far more often than not and made it really hard for me to take the step I am glad I took when I signed up. I don't doubt this happened too you because every job can be a different experience for 2 different people. Yes 14 hour days can be the norm but unless your a OTR running long distances or a local LTL guy you're probably doing that anyways. As far as safety "naziism" is having to watch a redundant 6 minute safety video once every few weeks that big of a deal? Sometimes it's a nice reminder to watch what can happen and go wrong if done improper or carelessly with the things we do everyday and take for granted because that's basically what you have to watch. All is not perfect yeah the 62mph and the cell phone thing sucks but unless your one of those guys that has to be running a long nose Pete or KW with all the pretty LED lights the newer equipment makes up for it I believe for whatever my opinion matters. Not all accounts are equal but some are pretty #### good!

I have 0 issues with JBH. You are otr, they tell you 2000 to 2200 miles average for otr. Tell the company, lease, and o/o guys all the same thing.

The only big carrier I would ever recommend.
Worked for them for 2 years doing a western regional. They called it the Southwest 6, but it was more like 7 or 8.
I'd give them a 9 out of 10.
I had no problem getting 2800 or better, and that's with 75% in the double nickel states.
I had several wild goose chases looking for m/ t's. Welcome to trucking.
I'd be working for them right now, but have to be home every night. I'm the first call on 2 of their recruiters lists.
One did call with an excellent position, but that was when I had to stay with Dad 24/7.
I stayed in touch with them over the years, even as an O/O. They send me gift cards to the J three times a year at least.
I ask them several times to let me lease on as an O/O, but I'm outside their geographic boundary.
You should try Prime or CRE, I hear they have more miles, more money, and more hometime.
Oh yea, as O/O the single best load I ever pulled came from JBH. Made $970 after fuel for a 10.5 hour trip. Swift was second $940, but only 10 hours.bzinger and brian991219 Thank this. -
I think the OP should find another career to whine about. When guys start to add ALL hours and start talking $$, it's time to call it a career. I'm not saying this is not somewhat true but it is what it is.

Jcpenney dcs here , sometimes its slow sometimes its busy but there's always work available just depends on YOU. When it's slow your givin the option to run other loads for different accts or rail. I'm home everyday weekends off no forced dispatch no stress no complaints here

One thing I learned from my 4 years as an O/O there and talking to a million drivers is that you can't put the whole company under one umbrella with all the different accounts they have.
