I Need Some Advice

I have two trucks: 1 leased from Quality, the other purchased from a dealership. I started with the leased truck last year, ran hard, saved my money, and put a down payment on the second truck. I considered returning the leased truck and thought about taking my other truck over to Landstar. Lo and behold, a friend was having financial difficulties and needed a job so I agreed to let them drive my other truck. I leased that truck on to a small carrier and everything was good for a little while. Then, friend didn't run the truck as much; which was a problem for me. Long story short, "friend" quit with zero notice and parked my truck near his house (the company's rental trailer is still attached). I had a load that passed through his area so I stopped by to check on the truck. It's dirty inside and out! I wanted to start the truck but noticed that the key was broken off in the ignition. SMH. I'm totally disgusted, I can't believe a friend would do this.

I had to leave so I could deliver the load that I was under but now, I'm trying to make arrangements to recover my other truck. This whole situation has cost me dearly because we all know that when a truck doesn't roll, it's not making money and I have to take time off to get that truck.

I thought about sending the lease truck back to Quality and just run the other after I get a few things repaired. A few friends suggested that I keep both trucks and just try to find another driver to run the one I bought. I'm not sure if I even want to deal with another driver because if a so-called friend will do this, I can only imagine what a stranger can do.

What would you suggest? Serious suggestions, please.

What type of truck and year? Miles, etc..

A true friend wouldn’t.

Most people call those who they are friendly with friends but it has been my experience that you can count your true friends on the fingers of one hand (with a finger or two to spare).

Boss Lady, what about buying a new ignition switch from the dealer parts department for the truck? Like $35 or $40 bucks, new keys just in case your "friend" kept a copy?

They're easy to change out. The switch, I mean. Remove the surrounding thread body/nut, push the old switch back until you can remove the wire plug, plug it right back into the new switch, push it back thru the dash and fasten the threaded nut. Maybe 10 minutes. Best.

I have no idea. I can only assume it could have been jealousy. I had no problem paying fairly and on time.
