Training is now done in Houston my advice is stay where you are until this new administration settles down driver pay isn't going up but they keep hiring big time office salary administration stay where you are for at least another year see what happens here at action first driver.

Been with Action, not quite 2 yrs.. OTR vans, I do 70 mph, company truck. Longer hauls over weekends, some shorter ones during the week. Once in a while, I'll be at a terminal, and do some of their local stuff. No problems with pay. But maintenance is spotty at best. They closed Columbus shop, cut back in McAlester, OK. Maintenance is on the 3 not system. People, (dispatch, safety, payroll, etc.) are pleasant, and at least try to act as if they care.

Been a while since I visited the site. Left the company recently for a better opportunity.

Overall, the time I spent with Action was positive. I learned a lot about the chemical business. There are plenty of opportunities to haul some diverse haz mat. They leave you alone to do your job and I really appreciated that.

In the beginning, the company culture was very driver focused. They made a special effort to let you know they appreciated you driving for them. Over a six month span of time this changed and the management went in the opposite direction.

Without a lot of details, I would say that the company went from a quality driven organization to a quantity oriented business. It is unwise for anyone to work for a haz mat carrier who does not put quality first. Eventually, something ugly is going to happen. I am blessed that I was able to move on before that happened.

In any profession, but especially chemicals, proper training and equipment is a must. You will receive no training of a formalized manner with this carrier. If you have the endorsements, here is a truck and a tank, jump on it. Don't know how to air off a load, no problem. When you get such a load and are at the customer, just give us a call and we will walk you through it. Pump load? Same approach.

This may sound crazy or exaggerated but I assure you it is neither. In fact, I am confident that a case of criminal negligence could be made regarding this companies practices. Scary. I actually thought in the beginning that this would be the last carrier I worked for. It was that sort of place.

But, leadership changes and so do the priorities. Truly there are worse places but I can't recommend starting here if you have not done chemicals before. The training does not exist, the pay is low and the risk is high. Not to even mention the hundreds of dead head miles you will drive to pick up some low paying load. Contrary to what they may say, you are doing a lot of free driving for the company while you shoulder the work and liability of moving the equipment.

    Best of luck.
