I'm interested in knowing the consensus on either the dynasis or the rigmaster Apu units. I'm not really interested in anything else.

I don't have any experience with dynasis but the rig master is junk small ac compressor that couldn't keep a day cab cool , small alternator that has to run for an hour to light the dome light for 5 minutes, and plagued with engine issues
bzinger, Dave_in_AZ and bossboy2 Thank this. -
I have a dynasys that I bought over two years ago. I've had a few problems but those have been addressed in the newer units. one problem that is hard to overcome is the limited dealer network when you need service. All of my warranty work was done immediately at no cost to me. overall it has been a good unit, dependable and keeps me warm or cool with no real problem.

I had a TK that would freeze you about half to death. Noisy.

Hoping this gets some votes

Rigmaster runs at high RPM,,uses almost as much fuel as idling the truck,,noisy and unreliable too
bzinger Thanks this. -
Rig master has 20K BTU A/C output with 600cfm airflow. That's a lot more than the TriPac can do that I have on my truck now. Rig Master can be had with a built in generator or as an inverter model (my preference). The inverter model is lighter, smaller, and will keep the batteries charged that power your in cab accessories. It's parts can be bought at local auto parts stores. It consumes .25 gph or 1/4 the fuel the average truck will consume in one hour idling and has a 1000 hour maintenance interval. If I bought a new APU the Rigmaster would be at the top of my list.
APUs that have high output BTUs in heat and cold have to run at a high rpm to produce that capacity. You can get lower rpm APUs but they won't have the same capacity. -
My rigmaster I bought new in 08 went thru two ecms, one a/c compressor and one alternator bracket in the first year,,used more fuel than the tri-pac I put on my other truck,,,both trucks are long gone but the tri-pac is now on this truck and other than an alternator and a few belts,,it is on it's tenth year

Had a junk master once and was the Chevy Vega of apus ..boat anchor !
bossboy2 Thanks this. -
I'd say stay away from 110 Volt generator units. They are darn expensive to replace. Had a Rig Master on a company truck. The generator didn't last a year. Was replaced a few times. No wonder they went bancrupt back then.
The TK never left me sweating or freezing with very little issues in 6000 hours.
