This is what you are looking for;

For the non adventurous types, the short answer is:
On a 53' with the kingpin setback 3', you cannot have the center of the trailer tandems any closer than 37'1" in
Canada, Maine, Maryland, New Jersey.MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
I forgot where, but I once seen something stating a limit on what was called "rear overhang" being no more than 35% of total wheelbase.
I personally hate running around with excess tail swing though.Toomanybikes and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
35% of the trailer wheelbase is correct for those four jurisdictions. Truckers and math though, equals money for the state...
Toomanybikes Thanks this. -
Mine are slid all the way forward running around Arizona with this produce, or I'll never make it into the stores. Even the newer stores are not designed for 53's. Or the architect has a hard on for truckers. Heaviest loads are about 36K and always nose forward, so I don't sweat the weight.

I used to do steel erections and architects are ####### and never think of the construction workers or end users. It's ridiculous
MACK E-6, minirack and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Any idea which four jurisdictions have such a rule?

"But, but....
It works on paper".
