Your cars synchronizers must love you then...
Last transmission I worked on had been rebuilt just a year prior, took it apart and the syncros were shot.
Owner said "well I float, but I never grind so its okay.. must be a bad rebuild"
The facepalm was real.

Lol it was for a short time. I quite literally couldn't figure out why I couldn't shift. So floated it home. Only when I got close to the house I realized that my problem was that I wasn't pushing the clutch more than a half inch in when shifting

So basically, the DRIVING SCHOOL won't let you learn on a manual because you've never driven a manual and might hurt the truck... What?? That is their job to teach you. Get your money back and take it to a school that will actually train you. That's ridiculous.
You will regret having a restriction on your license. I have a friend who got his class A but with auto and 5th wheel restriction. Soo he pretty much can't do a thing with it if he ever leaves his current job. I warned him not to limit himself like that and now 3 months later, he's pissed that he didn't listen. NY/NJ doesn't have many options for decent schools but there are schools that will actually train you in a manual. -
Yea I know. I called the school today and said I want to learn in manual and that's it. I want what I paid for. They said ok but I did sign up for 1 lesson on a manual car. I know it's different but at least it will give me a basic idea.
If this school gives me any more problems then I'll say give me my money back now. I got a lesson next week so I hope there's no problems.
Thanks for all the info guys! I appreciate it
