My testimony won't be worth much as no one ever listens to me. Heck, even I don't listen to me.

When I get up in the morning and fire the old girl up and a rod comes flying through my oil pan I'm not sure I am going to feel like I am living in a apartment above my mom's house. The only thing SNI really forces me to to do is annual recerts and some silly computer training every quarter. It is there policy has nothing to do with any regulation. Not forced to use their fuel card, can opt out of the IFTA program and so on. The way I see it I have a truck and they have freight. No more than I work if they considered me a employee I would have been fired long ago. Just the way I see it. Have never leased a truck through SNI so I have zero experience in that matter.

Schneider. I just did one. I was going ' really? '
There's like 5 other drivers in the DC that I work at, they all said, yea, every 3 months you got to go down to the OC, and they make sure you are doing it the " Schneider " way.
What that has to do with a federal regulation I'm just not seeing.

There's a difference between not listening and having ideas forced into your subconscious by repeated droning. You would not believe the number of my former trainees who say "I you were right about everything, I wish I'd listened more"

For those I can't jackhammer the knowledge into, I fail them. SQT passes them anyway. Hence why I don't think people listen to me.

@sealevel - my thoughts were not directed at any particular driver. You all have risks and choices. I applaud you all for making the choices that work for you. Rather I refer to the grand scheme, not just transportation but across all industries and corporations. Companies using technical classification to shift costs, liabilities, and responsibilities away from the corporation and to the individual worker as a way to build share holder value. From my perspective it is eerily familiar to the labor practices of the robber barons circa 1880-920. The actions of that relatively small group of men set the standard for the entire economy and directly led to the era of big government and onerous regulation.

Within 90 days of date of hire we bring every one in to make sure they're doing things right. It also puts the driver in a position where they can ask questions and we can see how they are handling life on the road. Think back to when you were a brand new driver and all the little things you did wrong. If no one pointed out your errors you would still be making them.

My point of regulation is that SNI believes that they are required to ensure you are aware of and following FMCSA regulations and are competent to operate a large CMV. In that regard we bring all drivers in once a year to ensure compliance.

Schneider only does skills tests once a year at your anniversary date for your annual training.

Don't believe everthing you hear driver, if you do your time will be miserable.
