Yep I remember doing the same along the Mexican border-collecting for mountain states(precursor to IAA in the west). Using the pay phone in Vegas calling the Baja California area code- 052-661 to meet people.

What's strange is I have a harder time getting ahold of people now than back than. Most of my customers are very long term so I'm not concerned if my trucks miss them on the border, but with the Internet and cell phones it's become harder and harder to get people in northern Mexico. Ever since sprint bought boost Mobil and cancelled the true analog 'push to talk' I only talk to my guys every other week compared to almost daily.

Speaking of rogue police taking money under false pretenses fighting the drug war... I think there was a article somewhere in Oklahoma where they essentially can strip you clean. Cash or cards.

Thinking back to those good old days where there would be several thousand in cash somewhere on me or in the rig it's more amazing nothing happened...

I just read through this thread and the common for me was that people keep saying the good old days and how they had all that cash and nothing happened. I remember the good old days with the same nostalgia and I recall if anything did happen... the person that something happened with wound up with cement shoes swimming with the fishes at the bottom of the Hudson....When #### was done right before ratings. Your word and a handshake meant something.

& you live in the desert valley for crying out loud. Can't imagine what you would be thinking if you lived on either coast. ;)

Was just looking & DAS has a 4.8% positive rating for the past month. In other words, 2 idiots gave them a positive & 40 who left negatives have probably started praying more often.

There's no excuse for that many negatives. Just a **** company.

Oh also back when I called them about a load they were desperate on and I called and said I could do it if it was COD or wire transfer after pickup, the girl I spoke to said "we have had some problems in our accounting department" I laughed pretty loud about that. Talk about understatement of the year lol

So what is DAS doing or saying to get people to change their negative rating on Central? They stay at a constant -150 to -170 or 80+% as a whole. If someone does not pay you for 3-6 months, the negative rating should remain in place as a late payment at the minimum.
