This is what my buddy does. He tells everyone that he overages $2 per mile, but forgets to add, that he runs 200-300 miles per day.

At 1.30 assuming you have a good reliable truck, you are pretty much breaking even. At 1.50 you are making profit if you run 3k miles per week. Fuel started to go up, so soon you might be breaking even at 1.50, gotta adjust accordingly

My truck is paid for, and it's reliable but then again it's mechanical :biggrin_25520::biggrin_25520::biggrin_25520:

When I feel ambitious :biggrin_2551: I run 2 hauls per day ( average 250-300 miles per haul @ $2.50 per mile ) and then that's a round trip back home, but I do normally go home every other day.

I'm hearing drivers talk about how they wouldn't start their truck for less than 2.00 per mile

But where? I practically live on the road. And I'm just not seeing it. The most I got lately was 1.90 per mile coming out of Louisiana.

I'm chasing the freight. Where ever the best rates are, trying to get the most per mile. But realistically I must keep moving. I don't have the luxury of being selective and parking my truck for 3 or 4 days while I wait for a decent rate.

You can easily get $2 freight if you want to run 200-300 miles per day.
Based on my calculations 2014 $2 freight today is $1.70 with fuel price adjustment.

Sounds like if you live on the road you don't have any bills back "home" then right?

Right. Kids grown, no bills. But that doesn't make me exempt from wanting a decent rate. It still costs money to operate a truck

Right on. I'm thinking about pretty much doing what you are doing that's why I asked...

I don't know what "not having any bills at home" had to do with good freight rates. Am I missing something here?
