I vacuum my truck out every time I get back to the yard. We've got a shop vac hanging on the wall at our fuel island, so it's part of my routine along with washing the windows and such. I'd take all that trash and stuff it in someone's mailbox, if I were to encounter a pile like that. We all know who drove what before we did, too, as we have to sign off on the previous guy's VCR as part of our pretrip, so there's no "It wasn't me".
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
Well, just like the local routes I do here at IRT, the slip-seating thing seems to be prevalent everywhere with daycabs. Nothing like topping your tanks off at the end of the nights run and then come back the next night to find the fuel level at half and any equipment left in there tossed about or missing. Mainly some random, OTR guy that has the truck in the shop and wants to make some extra cash doing some cheeseplant runs.
Aside from that, I recently put in some apps to various locations through UNFI, Sysco, and Shamrock(trying to stick to ABQ or Phoenix, or Denver). The work sounds intimidating and mind-boggling at first and I know I'll look like a imbecile for a bit. But just like the milk loading, I got quick at it and came to know where most of the dairies were and how they all worked. It's fair money doing the loading of the raw milk, but ultimately after four years of being out "in the country", I'm kind of wanting to get back to some semblance of the opening credits scene of a procedural cop show, lol. -
Thank you very much Mr. MACK E-6...
this is one of the most important reasons why I have been considering to get out of OTR for a while... I will need time to deal with other things... But my suspicion was/is that there's not much time for anything...
other than commute, eat, shower and go to bed...
For those that have someone at home to take care of the house, shop, cook, do laundry, etc, etc, it might be good... But for a single person like myself... hmmmm...
By the time I go to bed, it will be time to get up... And being a local driver, with multiple stops and/or drop & hooks is not as easy and "relaxing" as OTR....
But I'm still evaluating my options...

Sounds like linehaul would be good for you then, if you can handle working nights.
In order to do that, you will need a doubles endorsement, tanker, and hazmat.
A tanker endorsement is a relatively new requirement, but it's necessary to haul the 300 gallon chemical totes. -
Well it's summer time and you know what that means all the country clubs and places like that are firing up. Country clubs are not very truck friendly which is funny because they get a lot of truck deliveries everyday. What I mean by friendly is the design of the parking lots and buildings and what not.The actual people who work at the clubs in the kitchen so far so good they have actually all been pretty cool, however it's like some of the delivery area's it's like really?...
Anyhow haven't had one of these in a while opened up my trailer and the load was right to the back door.
So got it all taken care of lots of fancy places today and country clubs keeping everyone supplied. Did 6000lbs between my first two stops which was good that opened up the back of the trailer so I then had room to work. Over all not bad though. -
Oh here's a good rant, today I forgot my gloves back at the office and now I have two annoying minor cuts one under my finger nail and another on my pinkey finger, oh well.

Night driving... I can handle that for a week but not more than that as it starts messing me up...

Have been driving at night for the last few nights this week... Yesterday I was sooooo tired that felt like taking a nap under the shower at FJ here...
Slept all that I wanted last night as I am waiting to deliver a load tomorrow about 1.2 miles from here... And after that, will deadhead about 445 miles to hometime location... I mean, where my personal vehicle is and my storage. Got doctor's appt next week... Will take one week to do all that I need. And then, back on the road... for maybe 3 or 4 more months if no other doctor's appt.Mike2633 Thanks this. -
I have really enjoyed reading this page I have been working at us foods in Missouri for two years and it's great to see other people have the same issues I do lol
