    D13 704k 10 speed.

I keep getting code mid 128 pid 173 fmi 0. I have a scangauge hooked up and I am seeing temps 800degrees to 1000degrees. I back off the throttle to get the temps down. Also boost is at best 22psi. Only seen 31psi twice. Another thing is oil was never an issue but now in 3k miles almost drank 1 gallon. No visible leaks. I looked inside the CAC and did not see any oil inside. Could I be losing it on the hot side?
Looks to me that the turbo is toast. What should I look for to verify that it is indeed my turbo.

If the exhaust side of turbo is leaking oil the exhaust pipes are usually wet or there will be oil caked up around the turbo outlet.

I don't know what the boost spec is supposed to be but if its low that is likely the cause of high EGT's. I would do as suggested above and have CAC pressure tested and check all your intake boots and pipes for holes or leaks. Some trucks the intake boots rub on the insides of the hoods and cause them to fail.

Dirty air filter will cause high egt and oil consumption, but it would have to be really dirty.

Wow, I need to get out more often.....800 to a grand EGT is hot? I remember the 2 stick 3408 B TTA ( 650 ) showing 1250 plus pulling Grapevine. Owner told me no sweat til 1400.

Hell we call those pyrometers back in the day. You can kick and buy 1200 to 1450 at most with a steel manifold perhaps if you are toiling over Big Savage. You can exceed your thermal temp limits for a few minutes at most before damage sets in.

800 to 1000 aint gonna get me excited none. Warm yes. But not too bad.

That is one of the things I have always fought the computer #### over in my time. #### thing wanna get hot a little bit, let it. Computer starts pulling power no... not allowed. And something else cooks up usually what with all the aluminum coming in.

Engine pyro meter gets to burning, then the engine oil gets to really cooking that heat falls to the coolant temp gauge starts to climb and if you cook it too much you starve the turbo and when it starves it burns up and so on systematically until something breaks.

Well unfortunately my nightmare came true. Turbo is bad. I am having the manifold updated to the new single piece and new 4k Holset installed. 13k already in repairs this year.

I will say I am extremely lucky to have been able to drive the truck.back from Alexandria Mn and not have been towed.

    WHOA.

Do you see that massive rusted clamp behind the black ring towards the upper left corner? Aint you blowing all sort of leaking out of that?

You are very lucky Sir. Very lucky.
