Just got a message over the Qualcomm telling drivers that "The market in the Pacific northwest is soft this weekend, and we don't have a lot of loads, if any, before Monday morning." and go ahead and shut down for a 34 hour reset this weekend. Well, at least I'm at a Pilot, so I get to have some showers, do laundry and take a nap. It sucks I'm not making money but, like they said in Godfather 2, "This is the business we've chosen."
Ahh yes the wonderful Pacific Northwest Region

Dear Code Red,
IF your a Company Driver... DEMAND LAYOVER, it's Not Your Failure that Your COMPANY CAN'T FIND/PLAN FREIGHT for you.
IF your a Lease Operator... DEMAND LAYOVER, The Company your Leasing Your Truck from WON'T PAY YOU BECAUSE THEY FAILED TO PLAN/FIND FREIGHT for you.
IF your a Owner Operator.... and you got yourself to a POOR FREIGHT AREA...
YOU FAILED TO PLAN/FIND FREIGHT FOR YOURSELF and YOU GET NO LAYOVER PAY.
Rent a Car and Go See THE SIGHTS!!!
Enjoy!Hammer166, rabbiporkchop and 91B20H8 Thank this. -
I'm sure he'll get layover. Question is if it'll be for one day or two. Had to be an uninterrupted 24 hour period to collect the measly $65. So if he sits for 44 hours and then has to go get a load.. No layover for day 2.
Edit. Durr. That was meant for company drivers. For lease at sni your o/o advice applies. Choice guys book their own loads, it would be their fault for running themselves into a no freight area. But they also wouldn't get that message so I'd bet my bent .02 that he's company. -
Use this time wisely, research for companies that have apu's.

I am a company driver, so I will try and ask about layover pay. I'm in Oregon right now, so they weather is pretty great, and I'll definitely get out and see the countryside.
I actually took a nap this afternoon, there were hardly any trucks here and it was pretty quiet. It's nice to be able to rest, though I would have preferred to rest back at home, obviously. -
$65 per day.
