So was this driver illegally on the shoulder? Guess he wasn't paying attention to the traffic while in the shoulder and just pulled over into the traffic lane. Wonder what he was doing on the shoulder?
Sad about the son.

Unfortunate accident but without all the facts or proper investigation by the authorities why are they already charging the driver?
Badmon Thanks this. -
I dont know what happened, but if a tractor trailer rear ended a car pulling off the shoulder they would be at fault too? A rear end cant be hos fault can it?

To me the rig is clearly in the emergency lane. Why didn't the other driver move over? Didn't look like the box truck even slowed down. Not saying the rig driver doesn't share some of the blame but to be thrown in jail. And get real...... a flight risk.......because being a truck drive gives you the means to flee the good ole USA and live rich abroad.
Sorry but it must be because he was driving while black.......just don't do it. -
That's a Werner tractor-trailer. Box truck driver probably wasn't paying attention either.

Ya, I don't get it. He's in the breakdown lane and it looks like the box truck crossed over the solid line and hit the truck so I'm confused.

He WAS in the breakdown lane.He pulled out into traffic doing five miles per hour. The box truck rear ended the truck. The truck then pulled back onto the shoulder, dragging the box truck with it.

I posted because it's pretty scary to think even something like this will land a driver in jail along with being labeled a flight risk. Along with a million bond.

Exit 13 is almost at that sharp left handed curve just south of Gastonia. I bet the driver pulled off on the shoulder after he went around that curve, pulled back on the road and then that box truck came around the curve and hit him. People fly down through there anyway. About 2 miles south of the curve the right lane has to exit at exit 10. 1 million bail is kinda steep. The driver must have argued with the police or either they suspect him of DUI? Or it could be just that area, they have a lot of wrecks around that curve in both directions.

That makes sense. Not the best place to pull over I suppose.
They really got to crack down on how many folks are coming into this country. All I am saying is the roads are getting more crowded every year. Even I-5 looks packed during day hours.Last edited: Jun 19, 2016
