I use the Qualcomm for turn by turn navigation reminders until I get close to my destination.
I use Google Maps app for when I'm close, and use the satellite view feature it has to see the exactly where the truck entrance is at the shipper or receiver (looking at where the trucks are gathered at).
I also use Google Maps to navigate to my fuel stops, walmarts, buffets, and whatever else en route to my destination.
I use the Waze app to avoid traffic jams, accidents, and see where all the cops are along my route. This has saved me many, meant times from being stuck in traffic due to accidents.
With these 3, you will be fine on your journey 99.9% of the time and avoid almost all mishaps.
Drive safe.

Agree that Google Maps and the satellite view are essential tools. There's been times the Qualcomm says "arrived at destination" and I'm just in a group of unmarked buildings. Google maps will get you right there.
As stated you can preview a new place via satellite view and figure out the best way to enter, etc. Good stuff.... -
flag the qcomm mistakes on routing screen and use feedback tab to staye what the issue is and what is the correction.

I like the combo map atlas, smartphone and rand mcdonalds I like when im in a area I know and rand tries to take me a round about way and I wonder why the heck it did that. I mostly use rand to show me approximately how many miles I have to go.
Home_on_wheels Thanks this. -

Qc for immediately around customer as well as google maps for satellite view. RM tnd 730 + waze on the way there. Rm tells me 2 miles ahead what lanes to be in, tells me the speed limit and warns if it's going to change, tells me of weigh stations and when I cross time zones. It'll also find whatever I want around me/my route/my destination. And it has settings for empty or loaded route, so it'll route you on those pesky 50k lb max roads when you're empty (cough cough Walmart in Mississippi cough cough). Waze is for traffic alerts and cops. Since getting the rm my life has gotten so much easier. Jill is muted almost permanently.
Edit. I use the atlas. To find out axle limits in the states I'm going to. Rm makes the atlas. Why the hell would I need to look at my route on that too? The one in gps is much less outdated than the paper. -
Recently I was in Mass. I don't go there much, but the memory scars never fade away.
Qc said goat paths. I thought #### NO. Then I used some common sense. Daylight - good. weather - good.
The toll way sends me through town plus a few more miles.
So I am mt , try it once or never again. At least I could see something different.
Well, no problem till 4.5 miles to shipper. Left hand turn, no NO TRUCKS sign, good. Then, the road marking ended. No more businesses. Subdivision with power lines riding my trailer. Trees at the edge of the road.
So I snaked my way to the stop sign expecting to be chased by the law for some reason. There was NO REASON any truck should ever be on that road.
My point is that sometimes pure luck and answered prayers will get you to your destination.Milkman719, 91B20H8, Friday and 1 other person Thank this. -
Twice in one week I had my Qualcomm GPS flake out on me as I was less than a few miles from my destination. It does this thing where the satillate symbol goes red, and it just freezes up.
Many times I've also had it just, well, it's tough to describe, but it says "out of route" and it floats along near your highway. Like, that red arrow just floating off to the right of where I am on the highway. It would do that for miles.
This week I bought myself a Garmin just as a backup so I don't miss turns because my Qualcomm has checked out for a moment.alpha beta and 48Packard Thank this.
