Ac blowing at 55 degrees....

    It's 91 in the shade and my ac seems weak...

    It's blowing at 55 degrees at the vents. They put it on the machine and the high and low pressures were good....

    The tech (who I know/trust) said that wasn't bad.....

    We did shut off the manual hot water valve and it made no difference .....

    It's a kw.. And I should of gotten the artic insulation package....

    Any thoughts...?

    All the time or first cool then warm??

    First cool then warm may you need to defrost ...

    I'm having a problem with the coil freezing up on mine. I found one of the lines coming through the firewall covered with frost. I showed it to one of our mechanics, who thought the.... Evaporator valve, I think... was stuck open, thereby flooding the system.

    Is yours working when you first fire it up?

    Ya , it works all the time...

    I'm a northerner (not used to the heat). Just started using the ac in the truck for real this week.

    I want to see my breath..:)

    What about a plugged up drain tube from the evap core? Seen some fill up half way with water and freeze. Air flow was still good but with only half the evap core exposed it wouldn't cool as good as it should. Is the condensor clean?

    A couple of things...

    Is it an orifice tube system or does it have an expansion valve?

    Is the blend door working?

    I believe it's clean because I always run a air cabin filter on the intake....

    Not sure about the drain..?

    Is 55 degrees an ok outlet temp ?

    If it's freezing up it's one of three things.

    1. Low air flow across the evaporator from a plugged up cabin air filter or plugged up evaporator fins.

    2. A bad expansion valve.

    3. Some systems have a separate evaporator temperature cutout switch.

    Over or under charging wouldn't cause that?

    If the pressures are good and it's an orifice tube system, 55 degrees might be all you get. Orifice tube systems are less efficient and you will usually only get 40 to 45 degrees below ambient.

    If it has an expansion valve system, there is definitely a problem. You should be able to hit 40 degrees even on a very hot day with a TEV system.

    Is it pissing water out the drain when it runs?
