I received a speeding ticket in CT a few weeks back and I sent it in as not guilty. The ticket was for 72 in a 55 which I know I was not going at the time but that is neither here nor there. With the speeding ticket I also received a log book violation for not logging my last stop which I had flagged but I did not put in the city and state. I have never received a ticket before and I am curious if anyone has any advice that could help me when speaking to the judge.
Thanks in advance
got a ticket

I think alot of guys have had good experience with trucking lawyers. They say it's worth every dime you spend. I don't think I'd go in there without one if you want to fight the case.
AfterShock and panhandlepat Thank this. -
I had a 72 in a 55 and it was a construction zone to boot . I hadn't been in actual construction for a couple of miles but was still in the zone . It was a "must appear " ticket . Called one of those attorneys advertising in the trucker magazines . Cost me $400 but it was settled before the court date and reduced to defective equipment . I would have lost more than $400 taking time off from work .
AfterShock and davetiow Thank this. -
Get a attorney.

got a "drivers legal plan "at USA it only 3 bucks a week.
if i get a ticket and need a lawyer to show up it is 150. for an accident appearance it is 250. seems alot mcheaper than pay7ing per occurance -
As others have said do get a competent lawyer.I'll tell you why.If you had been going 70mph it would be an infraction, since it was 72mph it is now a violation.Under Connecticut law and federal law it would be considered a "serious violation"for a CMV driver. If you recieve two or more "serious violations"in a three year period you will be disqualified to drive a CMV.

Formerly being a "cop" I can tell you that it depends on how you plan on taking care of the ticket. Since you plead n/g it will be scheduled for a hearing. If you do not have an attorney and plan on going to court you can talk with the prosecutor (beforehand) and may be able to work a deal with him so as to not go to trial. Do not be afraid to ask for a non points violation. If that doesn't work google "how to beat a speeding ticket." Ask for disclosure of certification dates and times. What types of radar/laser that are used in that department. If you get the officer on the stand ask, "officer...when did you last calibrate the machine." To which they cannot calibrate they can only test. Also, before I forget, if anyone gets a ticket and is suppose to appear before Mayor's court DO NOT DO IT>>>YOU WILL LOOSE...AND BE FOUND GUILTY!!
Let me know if you have any more questions as I may be able to assist you and any other driver. -
