I screwed up... It's not Browning BR 29 but I Browning BR 79 that is in the makeup of my radio in my 2015 Cascadia. I also want to say that my SWR meter on my radio is probably not as accurate as a SWR meter inline so my .25:1 SWR may be inaccurate. I will get an SWR meter and measure with an inline meter as opposed to my radio meter.
I'm in Missouri and I'm getting Skips from Texas and California is this usual?

This setup is for a 2015 Cascadia . I think I screwed up my antenna is not BR 29 but a Browning BR 79. I may also have been inaccurate in reporting a .25:1 reading. I will measure with an inline meter as opposed to the radio meter. However it is important to note that the this is the first time since I've been in this truck that the radio has operated anywhere near Optimum.

Sounds normal

Today I got word my new Cascadia is ready when I am. I told boss to hold off for another week, but Penske is pushing him hard. So it appears I may have to move tomorrow, or over the weekend. This was a total surprise, I was expecting another Volvo. I had just spent $75+ not a month or two ago on the new antenna system GRRRR! He says don't worry Penske will transfer everything over to the new truck... What? (I don't think they even know what coax and mounts are?) I think what he means is they will strip the truck of everything non-factory and place it in the side box of the new truck.
But anyway, I've got 30+ pages to read in this thread to get this right, but only 2hrs vertical before I need a shopping list for truckstop parts, using only Love's points... at least a Band-Aid for the horror I've read about these plastic monsters.
I'm guessing a mirror bracket for now, anything else I should add?rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Looks like Neverready has the best quick bolt on solution so far for the Freightliner CascadiaTheDude1969 Thanks this.

I just learned something.
My antenna due to it's extremely high Q With such a sharp resonance, it is able to give me a fairly good SNR as it hears the frequency that it is tuned to exceptionally well while being effectively detuned to noise around that frequency. Noise is noise and it will still be there to some degree, but at least with a high Q antenna you can block out some of it. -
Cascadia 2015 72in. Sleeper
This set up solved my CB problem. I'M now getting swr's of appx 1 :1 on channels 1 through 40 consistently.
I'm using Cobra 29LX peaked and tuned. Browning BR29 Antenna on a Wilson 2 bolt mirror mount polished not coated for a solid ground. 18 ft. Heavy duty coax cable. Lift hood and run coax thru the fire wall at the passenger side floor. There is a rubber plug that pops out. Cut an x in the center of the plug. Run coax thru that.
The BR 29 has a16 in. shaft which gets the 2 in. flat coils high enough to clear the glass and fiberglass. I also used one of those coil mounting springs which gains appx 4 more inches of height.
Also, it needs to be slanted forward about 45 degrees.
I'M getting swr's of appx 1:1 on channels 1 through 40 consistently. My only check on range put it at about 5 miles.
Using Road King 54 Telex mic. -
Make that a BR 79 not 29 Browning antenna.

This would bolt directly to the Cascadia mount.

You are losing a lot with a 45 degree tilt. I think they say no more than 18 degrees. The more vertical the better. I'm guessing with a shaft type antenna, the wind doesn't straighten it up much.
