Its what truckers do.
Send any 2 truckers into a brothel and they will come out screwing each other every time.

Dont go into Dallas outbound rates are horrible!
-
I just sat in Laredo for 2 days for a decent paying load out .
Rates offered this week out of there are insulting . -
Van or flat, how many miles per week? Are you grossing 6k every week?
If I was getting 3k miles per week now with $2 per mile and weekends home I would go lease to your company right away, but I am 99% sure no company can give that at current market conditions.ChromeNut Thanks this. -
I Think pilot cars get paid more than you guys.
-
Rates for most of them are in the toilet too.
-
Who cares about what you gross. It's about net. And the only way it matters of I'm doing 3k miles at 2$ with weekends home off is if that's what you are doing right now.
-
3k miles at $2 per mile is $6k gross. After fuel it's $5k.
1.5k miles at $2 per mile is $3k gross, after fuel it's $2.5k
So yes, I care about gross. Just getting tired of people posting numbers without backing them up.
If I go around saying that I do $5 per mile without telling how many miles I run per week it just looks stupid.
That's why I asked for the rest of the story, but got just a meaningless macho response backTempii and Domingo101 Thank this. -
Nothing macho here at all. I was just responding to your statement that implied 2 bucks is only good if you run 3k miles a week and get the weekend off at home.
If you were asking for my specifics, well every week is different but it averages or at 2 bucks on 2500ish miles. Some weeks more some weeks less. The only real constant is longer the run the less it pays per mile. And even that has exceptions.
What I do is visualize a graph with two separate lines on them. One for net and one for mileage and try to plan my operation to operate in a way that im where those two lines intersect.
Basically i aim for the best rate per mile at the mileage I need to net my weekly goal. And quite frankly that's more complicated than I need to make it. The better or at least simpler way would be to go for xx dollars after fuel and tolls per day. But hey I'm a mechanical engineer at heart, we over analyze and over complicate everything. All ya gotta do is look behind the dash panel of your truck and you'll understand we aren't too good at keeping things simple. -
I don't work real hard because I don't have too , I run about 2400 miles a week and as spyder said I go for the most money possible .
But I won't run for less than 1.80 a mile plus fsc .
Sat in Laredo 2 days this week because the gods didn't think my services warrented more that a buck fifty and would have gladly sat all week if need be cause I won't run my truck for free...its a matter of principle.spyder7723 Thanks this.
