I 3rd it.
Last winter was my first up here.
But I don't look forward to another one with our 10% pay cut and reduced hours.
And as it was said, past winter was very mild by N.D. standards, prob. because of El Niño.
All have told me the last 5 have have steadily gotten milder.
So coming up is El Nina. Any "real" opinion on what this winter holds?
just starting out in the bakken

I don't even begin to predict what's going to happen when it comes to the weather.......if people told you the last 5 were mild they are lying....Dec 2013 when I arrived out here it was -35 and stayed that way all of Dec and most of January
-
Sorry, didn't write it correctly.
A few of my co-workers said that comparing 4-5 years ago, about 2012, it was EXTREAMLY cold that winter...and the next winter was not as cold, and the following winters a little milder than the preceding one before it. Until we got to last year, the mildest winter in a long time.
That was what I was told.
If this coming winter would be like the one just past, I wouldn't give it
much thought.
But, with a reduction of about 25 hours a week LESS than last year, AND 10% less pay, I'm not sure if I want to stay thru another one. -
"...Humidity & HULK RATS & SPIDERS & FLIES..." Sounds like a new police buddy comedy for the FOX Network. Are you heading to ND right away? I will be back in about 2 weeks. I see the rig count went up by 2 today.gdyupgal Thanks this.

Where did you end up? I currently have an offer from PowerFuels, but not really wanting to go back to water. Also, I've read a lot about PowerFuels, and not sure how I feel about them. Not sure if I would be able to handle ND in the winter either, no matter how mild a winter it is.

I can let you know where I am at in a few weeks after I see how it goes. As for Power Fuels (Nuverra), be careful, I worked with a guy last year that went to Nuverra Watford City and only worked about 2 days a week for two monts after they said they had plenty of work.

Good to know. This is what I'm worried about. I also have an offer from Texas Gathering, working out of Houston. Again, I'm just nervous the hours/money just isn't there. Please let me know how you feel in a few weeks. I'd be curious. Thank you!
