The ad was they train to get your cdl. Maybe it was misleading, I don't know. Call and ask.

Southern Refrigerated Transport might work with you.

I went to a private school a long time ago so maybe its changed but I doubt it. You go through a company course be prepared for VERY little actual road time and course time. You spend the vast majority of your time watching the hoards of other students because there are so many.

I went to a private school after watching how a couple companies trained. For two weeks I went to different local schools and did walk throughs and am glad I did. My school wasn't the best but they where good compared to the pile of pump them out cdl schools...

If you go to a company you will sign a contract to work for them till x amount of miles is met or for one year. It depends on the company. If you don't like them and they are abusive ect. your stuck for a year or you pay back the school tuition cost to leave. I am not trying to be negative in anyway! Really I am explaining how it works. You end up doing the worst of the worst hauls for some companies yet others treat you very well.

Roehl is considered a good company by most as is Knight. They are bigger so don't expect perfection. I worked for Swift for 4 years DO NOT TRAIN AT THEIR COMPANY SCHOOL  They where hands down the worst training schools of the time. They where actually a good company if you didnt train with them hence 4 years I was treated well over all. If you did you where a peeon for a year in every sense of the word. In my state if you had a CDL from a swift school you lost it around 08 and had to retrain. They also shut down the Swift owned school in my state. I don't know if there is one here anymore I think its only Tenn these days.

Its easy to tell who's is good and who isn't when you drive there to check them out. It cost me a couple tanks of gas to pick one and it was worth it. I almost went to a school for KLLM and that school was also a swift school. It not only isn't around anymore but they are one of the schools that where considered a Swift school and shut down. Those students / graduates lost CDL's and had to re-train.... I did not have to go through that its all in the choice.....

My point is be very selective about who you go to. ^^^^ I know long winded^^^:p

If your state offers a paid training program jump on it and go to a GOOD private school or community college. In Michigan we have Michigan Works and they hook up people with training free. If im not mistaken most states have a similar program. WIA Act I believe workforce investment act. http://www.careerwise.mnscu.edu/education/wia.html

Ask what's their accreditation, are they certified by the state and what is their graduation rate. The graduation rate will tell you a lot. The truth is they only exist to teach you exactly what you need to know to pass the State tests.... Some are far and above others non the less.

Another tip is to call the company's you want a job with and ask who is the school in your area they like the best. I havn't driven in many years and am going back. I landed on A and B CDL in Michigan for a refresher as I still have a license by going around again to see who looked good. They are very small but you can tell they care a great deal and there hasn't been a company yet to say anything bad about them. In fact most not only know who they are but know all the instructors and owner by name. The owners of NTB sent their kids to this school to train and the company I am going Kuperus actually told me that because I am taking a refresher course through A and B that I dont need to do a full training period like they would from another much larger school nearby because they think so highly of A and B CDL and their students.

There are lots of options for you dont give up and for goodness sake go get your money back from those hacks:mad::mad:.... Take them on with both fists! Some schools are only there to take your money. :(

    Good Luck!!!

LOL, if you think he got screwed at school, wait until a mega contract carrier gets their hooks into him.

I say he is flunked from the program within 2 days if he goes to a Swift or CR England.

Welcome to America. American citizens get it stuck right up the @** but immigrants from 3rd world countries get free training to get a job off my tax dollars.

    Thats just great.

Well, according to their website: "Heavy Metal Truck Training school is a proud certified member of the Commercial Vehicle Training Association. CVTA is a non-profit organization whose members are held to the highest ethics and training standards in the country."

If they didn't teach how to hook up to a trailer and just showed you videos then they are not upholding to their high standards. Give CVTA a call and tell them your experience with this school. Maybe CVTA can be of some good.
