Schneider slowing fleet down

60 on cruise. 63-64 on the pedal. they recommend 57-58 voluntarily now.

 

Voluntarily... for now. I couldn't imagine going any slower than we already do. 34 states have roads with at least 70 mph speed limits. We are sitting ducks. At least the truck does 61 in cruise most of the time.

60 it is and man it can become nerve racking, holding up traffic on highways designated at 70. I got a nasty look from a lady yesterday, a truck attempted to pass me with his cruise set at about 64, he slowly went by he and I both had people stacked up behind us. Then comes this good looking blonde lady (with Ontario plates) behind him. She slows down, wretches her neck up at me like an ostrich with her face against the passenger window and gives me an ugly stare indicating, WTF is my problem, I just smiled....what can one do...lol....

Why not back out of fuel for 1 minute and let the other truck pass. You even stated both of you are stacking up traffic.

Unfortunately, that's the mindset of the younger generation. The only reason the states are raising the speed limits is to make you burn more fuel so that they can collect more fuel tax and sales tax. The states are hurting for money. Every interstate highway has a minimum speed. As long as you are between the maximum and minimum you are legal. This crap that you are safer going with flow of traffic even if it's above the posted speed limit is BS!! The faster you go the less reaction time you have. When I started driving, in 1975, The national speed limit was 55 mph and the trucking companies wanted you to do 50. Nowadays, everyone believes they HAVE to do the speed limit or whatever they can get away with. And with the shape these highways are in now, these newer vehicles can't take all the abuse. As far as being a sitting duck, I don't worry about it. If a driver, car or truck, can't see that big ### orange trailer in front of them, oh well. It's their fault and I will retire early. I drive 60-62 max. My truck can go faster than any speed limit in the country but I don't. I'm more relaxed and less stressed out. It's a lot of work chasing down and passing everyone in front of you. You will never get to the front of the line. There will always be someone in front of you. Just kick back and enjoy the ride. You will actually live longer by doing that and plan your trip accordingly.
