I am sick and tired of all these handicapped parking spots everywhere. There are stores that literally have ten of them and virtually all of them are empty all day. Most of the people who have handicapped parking placards for their four wheelers are not disabled just lazy.

I'll be the first to admit, did not read the post in its entirety, but I've often wandered the same and after talking with my neighbor (Tx DOT officer) and a couple of Pilot/Flying J managers, here is the "answers" I was provided...
A handicapped person CAN operate a CMV, if said handicap does not interfere with safe operation.
As for handicapped parking, that is a touchy subject... Law enforcement can not enforce it as you can not register a CMV under the "handicapped" category, however, the property owner can ask a person to leave their property... Management informed me that basically if questioned by manager, and you can show documentation of a handicap, they won't bother you, but if you can not, they can make you move or leave the property...
Reason I wanted to be so thorough in all this, how many times have you pulled into a truck stop and the ONLY empty spot is a handicapped? Well, I am a disabled vet, and have proof, and per management, that is sufficient to grant me permission to park there
that being said, I still try to park as far away from the door as I can, but occasionally, I gotta do what I gotta do
Darius11 Thanks this. -
Just apply for a handicap hang tag... That's all you need to park there... That's the most used and recognizable "proof" available. Just move it from vehicle to vehicle as needed.
-
I've seen trucks with actual handicap tags on them, so they can be registered that way. Maybe it depends on the state?

Drove truck with a guy that had 1 eye years ago. Had a special permit. Hence the name woodeye on his bug screen

You must have xray eyes.
I know many people who look totally normal who cannot breath due to lung damage where they worked.
I know of many people who can barely walk due to conditions in their spine and legs.
I am also one of the people who have a condition that will lead to me having to get one of those stickers. I am literally doing all I can to avoid it and force myself to walk even though I may need to take a break or am in extreme pain.
I AM THANKFUL THERE ARE PEOPLE LIKE YOU. "NOT"KriegHund, Diggler, MidWest_MacDaddy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Agree... There are always going to be people who play or abuse the system but to paint comments with such a broad brush is just ignorant.Lucy in the Sky, Roadmedic, 48Packard and 1 other person Thank this.

Ditto ...Ignorant fool. Hope he never is handicapped. Two years ago I was rollin" 2800/month.
Now, I can barely make it to the car...and Dr's don't know why.
Real wake up call Mr Playboy. You can apologize to the person in the mirror.MidWest_MacDaddy and Roadmedic Thank this. -
I hope you're not driving a truck with those conditions as the job requires a lot of walking. My observation has been that the majority of the "disabled" are just lazy and inconvience the rest of us. Like the 600 pound women that use the disabled parking spot at Wal-Mart and the motorized scooter. Eating yourself to that kind of condition was a choice not a disability. Why should they be rewarded for it? If you're in a wheelchair I can understand but like I said if these people can walk around a supermarket for an hour they can walk 70 feet more to the door. I have no sympathy for those that cost me time and money.spyder7723 Thanks this.

May the good lord be as merciful to you, as you to others.MidWest_MacDaddy and Roadmedic Thank this.
