A few things that have worked for me, No CAFFEINE, SUGAR OR SALT for at least 8 hours before being tested. If possible, and this is probably the hardest in this hurry up world, b/s with the Dr for a few minutes first, talk sports, fishing, anything to calm down. I too am on several b/p meds and it is well under control until I walk into the office. A few minutes discussing last nights Yankee game seems to do it. I one had to go to my companies Dr, I sat in the waiting room for 2 1/2 hrs. When he checked my pressure it was off the scale. He had the nerve to ask if I was aggravated about something? I screamed at him about the long wait, he saw I was pissed and signed the forms without checking anything. So there some quacks out there who will sign off on anyone.

I've had borderline hing BP for years but never got it truly diagnosed because I pay for my own health insurance and it would up my rates, which are already high enough. So I knew passing for the DOT card would be a problem, but I went anyhow. Plus I've got "white coat syndrom". I was an EMT and took my own BP, but at the docs office it would be 10 points higher. Needless to say, my first test was high. The doc gave me some meds and tald me to come back in a week, but said the meds would take a month. I didn't have any beer, avoided any red meat, and started a lot of meditation and visualition. I checked my BP everyday at the grocery or drug store and by the time I got to the docs office it was fine. I was hoping for a 3 month, but managed to be under 140/90, so I'm golden.

I had a BP problem for awhile but have it under control now. I found a natural herbal supliment that brought my BP down almost as much as drugs without the side effects. It's called Mukta-Vati if anyone is interested. Google it, a lot of people sell it online.

Definitely try the herbal. I like Reishi mushroom, but to each his own. Don't smoke, chew or have any caffeine. Try a decaf tea. Take some deep breaths. And don't have your blood pressure taken on the same arm more than 2 or 3 times in a few hours. It's not good for you.

Just thought of another one...Cayenne is extraordinarily helpful to your circulatory system. It, like aspirin, will thin the blood out (naturally though) and increase circulation but may also decrease blood pressure as the blood will be moving faster w/less friction.

2 Things - organic. Hawthorne herb & garlic in gel pill form. Both supposedly helped different men I knew at work sites. Also red wine- Burgundy for example, not too much -moderate drinking.

What IS the BP cutoff, anyone know? 140/90 ? 145/95 ? etc etc??

140/90........

It's mind over matter really. Pep talk your self into keeping calm. Take deep breath's and relax. Don't even think about it when they take it. Think of something that does or has made you happy that will help relax and tune out the sound of the compressor inflating the arm cuff. No nicotine, no caffine atleast a day in advance which can cause blood pressure to go up. Also try to avoid any food's the contain salt which can also cause blood pressure to go up.
