I have a friend that has recently graduated got a offer of employment from a company called Dm Bowman. In Allentown PA is this a good company to work for or should he look for better options?

It appears no one on the forum has any information on the company. So let me jump in with some generic information. This is Link to a drivers review from Indeed.com http://www.indeed.com/cmp/D.m.-Bowman,-Inc./reviews

It appears to be a company that works on shifts. So you are home everyday and have two days off a week. For a newbie that is really rare. It appears the pay isn't great but all newbies get paid less then someone with experience.

Others may disagree with this but the problem I see is that working local does not qualify as over the road experience. The actual living in the truck and being gone for weeks at a time is important to a trucker as that is where the money is. If he wants a home life then the pay will always be less. Good for a young father or a retire but if you have teenage girls you want to be as far away from the home as possible.

DM Bowman that I know of is HQ is Williamsport Maryland. Flatbed is in Frederick Maryland.

If this is one and same and they started running out of Allentown, good for them. Wise choice indeed. Cuts so many hours getting there from here in the morning.
