There are many companies that tell you one thing and the dispatchers do it a different way.
All of the people here having the time to get on the forum, they have to have a 10 hour break and some only sleep 4 hours. Others have to wait hours to get unloaded or loaded.
The control of the driver is in the hands of the company. If the companies were to truly be honest, then there would not be the turnover that is in the industry.
Hometime. One company feels that if you drove by 8 miles away, your wife could come to truckstop to see you. Another 34 hours at home.

You will never get a 100% satisfaction rate from any driver with any company..

Well, sure I expect transportation back! Even JB Hunt will do that for you! And no, since I applied by phone, I didn't go to their website. And when I spoke w/ someone on the phone...she told me to pack 1-2 weeks worth of clothes and stuff...
Yes, I was upfront and honest about everything with them. And now I am jobless...and I don't know if I can get umeployment since I quit my job to go out to Ohio. Bad move on my part. I broke one of my own cardinal rules. -

he should of checked their website for more info. Even if I am prehired on the phone before I will let the company schedule a orentation for me I ask them for the website address so I can check to see if there is anything in fine print.
I was going to call usxpress but I checked their website first and found the thing about finding own transportation home and said forget that.
Of course they will not tell you over the phone that they will not provide the transportation home if you are disqualified.
They like to have it in the fine print so while you are scanning all of the info it you may miss it. -
man up is a bit harde being a woman, do you not read to well ? fmdriver means what duh ? I would have also went over the road if that was what I wanted ,I can be screwed my many OTR co. I was hired for local due to family illness , yes I still love my family
I only wish it was illegal for companies to leave employees stranded. My boyfriend went to orientation in Dallas for Werner. After driving 2 yrs. an then taking off 6 mths. they told him he would have to take a refresher course of 70 hrs. I was told the trainer was dirty, nasty and made bi sexual advances on him. He was also made to stay on the truck for 3 wk. Only once the trainer had a new student waiting on him, was my boyfriend taken to a terminal. Atlanta Ga. was where he was dropped off then told they had no trucks avail. I had to borrow money to get him back to Ok. City,Ok I only wish there was a way to stop the very poor treatment rec'd by drivers by these large co.Last edited by a moderator: Aug 14, 2008

I believe we would call that "Abandonment"
May or may not be legal, but sure as he** is "UNETHICAL".
Do that to a dog or cat and PETA or ASPCA or some other animal rights group would be all over that..
I can maybe understand that(not getting a prospect a ride home) if it is the prospects own fault, ie lying on application, some form of deceit, but to kick them to the curb WITHOUT
some form of explanation shows a complete lack of respect or caring for people in general. If they would do that to a prospect, what do you think they would do to a Driver.....
Been my thinking for along time now, that MOST company's have forgotten who makes the money for that company and just dont really care about those drivers that sacrifice so much of there lifes to that company... -
They only way for companies to stop the horrible treatment of drivers is to start talking to your state senator or comgressmen. Ya I know that doesn't sound good, but you have to start some where..

I made about the same pay in the garment business as you guys do in truck driving
At least those scum bags paid for my entire interview trip and wouldn't leave me stranded in east hell, how much could a ticket home cost from Ohio to New Jersey anyway?
And whats up with having to bunk with some stranger when you get there?
What kind of outfits are these that can't put out a couple of bucks?
Maybe if they treated people right, there wouldn't be such a turnover
