Im new to this site , been checking out different threads. I don't see any info on big beverage carriers , pepsi , coke , budwieser. Are they not considerd big boy trucking companies because they are local vendor delivery only ? Just curious.

@Mike2633 ... here ya go, again, LoL! OP, he may stop by with those answers for ya soon. He and I were just discussing that in another thread; but I don't know how to link threads.
Pintlehook and Mike2633 Thank this. -
There is a entire section of this board dedicated to the local and LTL side of this industry, plus other threads throughout the board regarding beverage and food service companies. You will notice a lot more generic OTR threads because that makes up the largest segment of the trucking industry so by default it will also dominate the conversations on this board.

They're great if you enjoy getting physical and driving around the city. From what I hear they start at a decent hourly rate (depending on region) and the benefits are cool. Definitely can use them to get ya foot in the door, but be prepared to work hard (physically).
Most of us would rather drive 5-600+ miles a day, or even do 15 stops a day, as long as it's no touch.BostonTanker and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
The other problem with commenting about the beverage delivery industry is we can only make general statements, there are way to many companies for someone to post about them all. Pepsi, Coke, Bud, etc all use local distributors that may or may not be good to work for, you usually do not work directly for Coke or Pepsi.
For example, I worked part time for a local bottled water company, we bottled and distributed about 40 different brands of spring water, mostly local or regional brands but a few of the national brands as well. The company paid well ($17.75 per hour in 2004) but the owner was a real arse to work for. Other distributors for the same brands that I ran into had much better working conditions than I did. -
Beverage distribution is a good entry-level trucking Job if you want local work in my area at least. It's good steady work but very physically demanding. If your don't have very much experience I would go for it till you have some time under your belt. Then try getting on a ltl or food service job that pays a whole lot better.... just my two cents though. That's how I started my career in trucking and it's worked out great for me.
