Okay.. so I'm driving and all of a sudden my truck shuts down...my steering and all other functions SHUTDOWN!! naturally I'm nervous because the wheel is tight and I have no control.. the lights shut off i can't even see the road ... 4am !! I place truck in neutral and start it back up...it did this 5-7 times before I could find a rest area!! Very scary .. I call breakdown. It's about to be a shift change they really don't want to deal with my issue at all. After several calls and a real nasty exchange of words still no resolve. Basically #### the new guy it's time for them to go home. I continued to call finally got a rep on the line that actually cared. He begin to inform me this problem existed with the previous driver assigned to this truck !!! WOW..
I asked him WHY on God's green earth would they place me in a truck that had previous problems such as this.. NO ANSWER from him..he replies NOT MY CALL.
Bottom line I'm very uncomfortable with how usxpress treats their drivers and feel unsafe in my truck at this point.
I'm doing my 90days hopefully I don't wreck before then because of this issue and I'm for sure moving on !!!
.33cpm and dangerous equipment it's not worth it AT ALL !!!!!

Welcome to modern ecm gremlins! At 33cpm I'm guessing you just started driving? Modern trucks will shut down to protect the block for 100's of reasons. Next time don't "limp" to a truckstop, just pull to the shoulder, set your triangles, and wait for a service tech. Know what gets attention quick? 150/hr service trucks and 600$ tows
Don't blame USX for the truck, like I mentioned before gremlins exists! I guarantee the shop has already replaced every component that threw a shutdown code, and it was driving perfectly normal post repairs. Some trucks are just "lemons", and always revert back to limp or shutdown.

Thanks for your weight yes I'm in my 1st yr, but I have every right to blame usxpress. This problem has been reported to them by previous assigned drivers to this truck. And for them to continue to place this truck in service is bad judgement.
Next time I will stay on side of highway great advice. -
What make and model of truck is it?
-
Just tell them the truck is not safe for public highways ....
If it's not running the way it is designed to run .... The truck is broken .... That simple and it's not anyone's fault -
It is running the way it is designed to. It Detected a problem and shutdown to protect the truck. The problem probably became more of a problem with drivers that continued to try to drive it after it wanted to shutdown

Here's the deal. That truck cost well over a hundred and fifty thousand dollars. I guarantee the last time thus harrowing it was sent in fire repairs and signed off as fixed by the shop. You really expect anyone to not utilize a peirce of equipment that had that much capital invested in it AFTER its been cleared by the manufacturers authorized representative?
Now that you've reported the problem still exists if they tell you to run it as is without getting it into a shop..your complaint would be valid. But you're condemning them with out giving them a chance to correct the issue. That's ridiculous.
Facts of trucking life, all trucks will have issues at some point. Even the best shops will sometimes think they fixed a problem only to find out later they didn't. This is the nature of the game you have chosen to play.Wingnut1, Badboyy0121 and ramblingman Thank this. -
Since you admitted to them how you kept starting it to move you very well may have made the problem worse also. Welcome to the world of trucking companies.

Hey guys. His lights shut off. That had nothing to do with an engine protection shut down. It's obviously a complete dc power loss not an engine shut down issue.
drvrtech77, ramblingman and Power_Sb Thank this.
