Oh, I do much more than that, but it isn't 9 to 5, I get up at 6 lol. Just saying that no rookie is gonna get 60 cents a mile, which is what 70k works out to be.

Gotta think outside the box, lots of trucking jobs offer more than just mileage pay. Accessory pay can really add up, particularly if you're willing to perform some manual labor. Lots of newbies in foodservice can crack the 70k barrier in the first year.

    +1 on the accessory pay.

One job I looked at didn't even pay mileage at all. $185 to show up everyday + performance pay for how much #### you pulled off the trailer.

Another was 38 cpm, $50 for every unload, $15 every stop, $15 every drop. 2-3 trailers a day, home every night. That was actually an account with US Xpress lol talk about irony...

When it gets down to driver unload freight the pay starts to skyrocket, a lot of drivers won't do anything but open doors.

Driver unload pay should skyrocket. You're doing two jobs.

Question: When you had a deal for 38cpm and USX failed to honor it, why didn't you immediately wish them farewell?

Because he probably misinterpreted. A mega carrier like USX starting a newbie out at 0.38 cpm? Yeah right. Follow everyone else's advice but if I were you I'd stick it out as close to a year as possible. That will look better than 6 months. More doors will open up. After 6 mos, you'll have choices, but at least if you have one year of experience, you can go to a smaller company and start off at the $0.38 cpm

Also you have to understand, recruiters don't know anything. They're just there to prequalify. Going forward, do your own research and talk to human resources. Recruiters just put rear ends to seats

I've been with Usx for almost 3 months now . If you want to make a decent paycheck you have to prove to your Fm you can make the loads on time every time. I get 2000-3000 miles most weeks. Last week I did 3596 miles made over $1100.( gross was $1500.00)and no I don't take per diem. You have to be willing to stay out longer than 3 wks though to get good miles 2
With this company . but I'm also an experienced driver to . and I stay out 60-90 days to though. If you have a good Fm they will keep you running. My truck only goes 64 mph where most others goes 65 mph. So it can be done. Eat, sleep, drive , safely of course. And I'm a solo.Drvr. . Hope that helps
