    Looking to buy a new tk apu unit i already have a espar heater is it worth the extra $500 to add it to the unit

    While the espar is bullet proof reliable, they do conk out. Is $500 over the time you are planning to keep the truck cheap enough insurance?

    It also might be nice to have auxiliary heat during a -20 night stuck in North Dakota.

    Absolutely worth it. Will pay for itself in short order when it gets cold again.

    Too many used TK APUs on the market. To buy new. They are easy to repair except most companies can't afford to pay TK to push the reset button. most parts can be purchased at local automotive store, compressor, alt, filters. Paid $4k for mine. Came with webasto, 1800 watt inverter. Came off of freshly crashed Perdue chicken truck. Brand new.

    -20 outside I would not shut the truck off. If your espar is not part of a block heater and is independent of the apu definitely install it.
