I have a friend whose "baby daddy" wanted to work in the Sealy DC, but he wound up applying in Jacksonville, FL. He did his year there, staying in a hotel on his days off, and then was able to transfer to Sealy. She said they transferred him as soon as his year in Jacksonville was up. But I don't know if that's actually the case or not.
But, apparently quite a few people do that. They'll apply to any DC that's hiring just to get in the door. It's such a good opportunity, I can understand why.
The first DC I applied to never called me either. But, that wasn't the one I wanted anyway.
The one I'm going though the process with now, is a much better situation for me.
Walmart here I come!

So I just found out that since I have a 19" neck, and a BMI of 33, that was enough to need to prove A. that I had a sleep apnea test and do not have apnea, or B. that I took the test, have apnea, and have a machine that I use to treat it. The Spring Valley, IL D.C. only pays for it if you are already employed with them, and then require a test. So sadly I was removed from their list of new drivers they'd be hiring, but not removed from being able to apply right away again, but this time with the proof of an apnea test being done in myself. The D.C.'s vary in whether they pay for it, or if the applicant pays for it. I have great insurance, so it won't matter, just wish I knew this in advance so I'd be ready with the required info and more importantly still be ready for my new career at Wal-Mart. This is just a minor setback, I know I'll have an advantage the next time my phone rings, as I've already been through most of the process. To all the new applicants who haven't been tested for apnea, please do so before your road test day, because Wal-Mart's requirements are more strict than the FMCSA's is. She told me also that nearly half of the drivers out of Spring Valley have apnea and are on machines. So off to get my test, and back to looking for an opening within range of my house. What doesn't kill us, only makes us stronger. Just wanted to share this info in hopes that it helps just one person.

Ironhead, sorry for the setback you experienced, which really is minor.
Since you have good insurance, get the sleep study done now and confirm whether or not you do have sleep apnea. If you do, well, it is best to treat now or likely pay for it later because it will only put more stress on your heart over time.
I was already being treated for sleep apnea when I was hired in 2013. It was never a factor at all. All that mattered was the doctor doing my DOT physical had documentation showing compliance data from the CPAP machine (minimum 4 hours per day 70% of the time).
On the outside it would seem "Why didn't Walmart tell me this could happen?", but the reality of it is that Walmart does not know what your health is prior to being hired. When their doctor states to them that an applicant may have an untreated medical condition, it is really up to that applicant to be treated and be able to pass a DOT physical and receive a minimum one year certification. On the positive side, should you develop this or any other health condition while already employed here, the huge amount of benefits we are provided are available.
Stay positive and it will all work out for you in due time. Since you already went through a lot of the steps already, the next time will be much easier.drozzer69 Thanks this. -

I followed up with my safety man from yesterday. This is a new thing, he says they've been talking about it, just didn't know some DCs were already doing it.
