Thankfully I never see them except for the rare occasion when I can't come back across the Bay Bridge.

Well a lot depends on time of day and such...middle of the night is usually not bad but during the day all the stop and start... Also hauling loads with traffic lights definitely take longer so I personally take the big road as much as possible with heavy loads..

Have anyone been north or south on I75 in ohio. Or across ohio turnpike this summer. I can run E. Cleveland to Toledo on rt 20 faster than turnpike currently.

Btw < pulling van. But if i was a person pulling heavy. Not that i am i would run two lane and at night. You get on that big road as you say with a " heavy load" and you stick out like a midget dead in the middle of the circus. Dont look good when everyone is passing you. Or you have blown three tires at once

Pardon me, I know there were several points made in the OP about problems with driving for SWIFT, but the main takeaway seems to have been that this driver was denied home time when his own mother died, not what routes he could or couldn't take.

    superflow and Lonesome Thank this.

Swift treated me well when I was there. I did Dollar Tree though so I was home every other night.

So you do the same thing that makes the OP a steering wheel holder? Interesting.....

No... Don't seem to understand is some of these steering wheel holders believe that the interstate is the only route you can take... that's the point I was making...

so they got 10000 trucks and a couple thousand wanna go home right now.
they could have several managers for these special cases.
when i was a new driver i had the ability to get myself home although i was able to put in my time until i had experience.
when i quit them in 97 they had 2000 trucks in phoenix and many of them would get to salt lake and go around the yard knocking on doors looking for a south bound driver to swap trailers with because they always had to get back to phoenix.
quite an issue for the big outfit
