Other than making enough to buy a new pair of jeans what do you think will be good about truck driving?
-
I'm not to sure I guess I'm just wanting to wait and see

You don't just go to work for 8 hours a day and then go home and repeat. It will become your life. You will be away from home for weeks or months. You will miss family events. Someone will be on their death bed and you will be on the other side of the country. You will sit on the side of the highway for hours waiting for the truck to be repaired.
You will love it or you will hate it. Right now you have a job you hate but at the end of the day you go home. Not so with trucking.
With a crappy job you probably think you have nothing to lose. The majority don't make it through the first year and leave with a big debt to pay for that 'free training'
You'll never until you try and it could be the best thing in the world. Do your homework though and make sure you know what you're getting into.Toomanybikes Thanks this. -
Do you know of any companies that have all automatics and train automatics

Dude, unfortunately you think like way to many people that get in this industry and the recruiters feed of the lack of knowledge; your just their latest victim.
Trucking is not like a bottomless cookie jar; when you get done with one piece of freight you just help yourself to another until you get 600 miles a day. You will work longer in trucking and get paid less for your time.
Drivers that have been driving at companies like KLLM for any length of time dream for the day when thy can work local and make $14hr. Few make that dream come true.Last edited: Jun 30, 2016

14 an hour pays concrete ready mix in trucking in Jonesboro Ar, that is what they will pay a class B there.
That is one way to do it. And stay home.
.31 a mile over 600 miles for your driving day works out to 186.00 gross. .65 of every dollar goes to taxes. So call it 90 to 110 net for the day if that. 11 hours driving. 10 a hour.
You are not going to get that kind of money over time in Trucking. It is a great loss by degrees, drip drip drip constant losses.
A bird in hand 14 an hour now is worth a #### sight more than 2 in the bush.
We were a husband wife reefer team once for a year. SOme weeks our minimum take net pay was less than 2.10 a hour all done. That is what savings is for. Other weeks they paid 2000 to the truck and we would go nuts and crazy on such windfall. -
Now subtract expenses that will be incurred on the road. Food, drink, extra phone bill. Anything else I may have forgotten.x1Heavy Thanks this.
