You've gotten a lot of advice here but the decision is solely yours to make. This profession isn't for everyone but It can be rewarding and most on this site do it because they love it. There's money to be made just do your training time and find a better job in a year or so. There's far worst companies than KLLM

You may have already told us but what's the name of the company?31 cpm wouldn't be a bad starting wage IF you get the miles. If you'll be doing alot of sitting then even 50 cpm wouldn't be a good wage.

@ a 60 mph average and .31 cpm you're making about 18 dollars an hour . For miles that you can drive . The rest is free , at any big company . Drop , hook , off duty time in a truck stop for weeks on end . It's a lifestyle choice , not a wage choice

Tough to keep 60 mph average. 50 more realistic.

Actually 35 is more realistic. We use that number to quickly determine if a appointment time and date somewhere is valid or not BEFORE we say yes or no to a assignement. It sometimes takes you THREE DAYS waiting before LOADING gawdamnit. Forget your precious paid miles per hour for one short time.

FLEETS use 45 as a gold standard to determine which of their drivers are running late to the early morning's grocery appointments and then start the wave of "Call me" messages to the satellite of those late drivers. For some it will be their last day employed with the company.

You newbies wanting (No offense...) to drive truck have NO idea of what you are getting into. Hence all these little replies that should give you caution before you get involved.

Why did I dedicate my life to trucking? because I. Love. It. and need that stress to validate my worthless grain of sand life in this cruel world LOL. Actually becaues people once close to me told me I cant do it. Eff them. I did it. And Im actually plotting to get back into it.

There are plenty of starter companies that pay more than 31 cents. Swift pays 36 cent knight pays like 36-38, Prime pays 38-41, Schneider pays 40. So look around first before you make a decision

And I get pissed if I have to wait 2 hours to get loaded.....I run line haul to a bunch of grocery stores for Shoprite and they usually get me unloaded within an hour. And yesterday had a backhaul from a warehouse where I had to wait 2 hours a second time in the same day.....poor me. ;) Plus I got caught in Philly rush hour on a Friday before a holiday, oh yea, some slow moving traffic for a few hours. So all that waiting put me over 14 hours. I have never had to worry about the 14 hour rule before, so I am brushing up on the 14 hour rule, as I may have had a log book violation yesterday.

Dude, if you would rather have a regular job than definitely go that route. If your not commited to this, it's possible you won't last long.

Something no one here as mentioned that since he's going to kllm, and the cpm is so low, abs that kllm is known for pushing their lease purchase, so this this guy as prime candidate for kllm to push their lp program on to him as soon as he's on his own.
