I'm not surprised you didn't get a break in Memphis. When a car and a truck collide and there are no witnesses, they always want to blame the trucker.
Try not to worry about it. It happens out there on the highway. It's not worth the worry.
Had an accident today.

Meh. The hell with all that. If you wanna play this game you gotta let people go.
-
Just write everything down so there is no confusion. BTW I-55 runs north and south. Even when crossing old man river.
-
To me I-55 is an outdated road and is a B in Memphis. If you take that Old Bridge, then you have to take that 15 mph exit. Outdated junk.stayinback, Lepton1 and DustyRoad Thank this.
-
You said cop agrees,he agrees to what? What did he say when he gave you citation?
-
I lived in Memphis when the old Bridge was the only way across. As a kid we use to go to West Memphis via hwy 61 which runs from New Orleans LA to Wyoming MN.stayinback Thanks this.

Same here. As a kid, I grew up 50 miles west of Memphis on the Arkansas side. I had my first legal beer in Memphis the day I turned 18. As teenagers, we would drive to the Greyhound Park in W. Memphis. I hit a 99 to 1 on a $2 bet one night on a greyhound. LolDustyRoad Thanks this.

"ur gonna get it today" he said the 4 wheeler said I drifted into him, the mirror was found further out in the lane, and, this bugged me, in his experience, when a car runs into a semi there is more damage to the car. I kept pleading my case. He wasn't having it. I wasn't rude, but told him cops have it out for trucks. He said "I used to drive"...just like every dispatcher.
I'm hoping that the cameras in the area, while they might not show the actual impact, will show I was maintaining in the right lane and not changing lanes. It wasn't a major accident but I REFUSE to take responsibility and screw my mvr up for something I didn't do. I even heard other trucks on the cb talking about how that car pulled right into me.
The worst part of all this the car was a company car with company insurance driven by the operations manager of a small trucking company. I almost #### my pants when he told me. IT LITERALLY WOULDN'T COST HIM A PENNY TO BE AT FAULT...and he must know how preventables screw up drivers ability to get hired.
Thanks for all the advise fellas, really. I'll keep researching and await a call from the Memphis "accident investigators" who apparently make the final determination of guilt, not the cop on scene. Also I get a #### dash cam lolLepton1, Getsinyourblood and DustyRoad Thank this. -
There are procedures that most companies follow....do you understand the importance of compliance by filing a claim with your carrier. The company pays for the Damage, you pay the ticket if the cop issued one, other wise if you didn't get a ticket, you can appear before the the judge and mediator. Did you take photos....etc. did you talk to safety....etc. if there was no injury and the vehicles didn't need to be towed, I would think the insurance company would settle out of court.
I had a fender bender in Jackson, MS and they gave the 4 wheeler a ticket for driving w/o insurance, the cop waved me on.....no ticket, no court. Non reportable. My boss was cool with it....said he'd take care of it and wrote it off. But it all depends on the company policies.....the big companies tend to make a mountain out of a mole hole.Getsinyourblood Thanks this. -
I agree with the Lawyer up idea!
Any collision a 4 wheeler has with a truck will be a lawsuit once the ambulance chasers see the police report.
Those scumbag lawyers will be filling the 4 wheelers mailbox full wanting to sue the trucking company and the driver!
I have been down that road before and would not face ANY accident charge without legal representation.
The way they drive in Memphis they could be one of those insurance fraud people who meant to hit you!DustyRoad and Getsinyourblood Thank this.
