Driving on your days off

Now I did say "compensated work".. you can voluntarily do anything you want to do. But if a jury thinks that you were not getting any rest before your driving a truck.. it could screw you up.. worst case scenario of course.

 

A CDL Driver can work for more than one company. However he must log any work driving a Commercial Vehicle according to the HOS. The exception is working in a non-DOT regulated part time job. My opinion is that you could drive farm equipment as long as you stayed off public access roads and log it as off duty.

While you may get away with it, and they may not be able to prove it, according to the letter of the law, all t h at has to be logged. Maybe running a combine could be logged "on duty not driving" because you aren't on a public road, but it SHOULD still be logged some way.

 

Again I find cries and howls of "Prove it" Tiresome. You can indict a ham Sandwich sitting there on the courthouse steps.

There is a system when implemented correctly in questioning People (Actually debriefing and draining facts out of them) literally mines a person's knowledge with useful information and facts.

 

Actually the farm equipment you are driving is itself exempt from DOT laws that we in the big Class 8 Trucks engaged in either Tier One ICC over state lines or internal for hire within state lires hae to abide by. The other is a Tier two which is a database of sorts to retain old non medically approved CDL's and people still alive who hold them under grandfather laws so that when the USA gets hit with a Nuclear strike, the Tier Two will be activated for one purpose and one perpose onlly. Hauling dead bodies and remains to disposal facilities elsewhere in the USA, Mexico or Canada.

 

Anytime you have a question about the law you should Ask a Felon. I am a felon and I tell you just to use multiple log books. Why worry about what the man says? The man can't even keep our boarders secure. If Hillary gets elected then we will have a Felon running the place. Do whatever you feel like doing. Don't worry that the Hours of Service rules are clear that any work you are paid for is On duty time. This is America. Rules are for the other guy.

The issue here is really about getting caught. The "laws" are clear. If you feel like rolling the dice, opening yourself up the punishments, or feel you can outsmart the system, go for it. Just keep in mind, if and when you get caught, you won't have all the big money and power to shield you from the lawful consequences like the aforementioned traitor does.

The farmers get special consideration for vehicles used in husbandry....but there's limits. And each State has its own set of rules.
