There is so little difference in a 1 and a 1.5 swr but it is nicer on the radio to go as low as you can get it....ALL a low swr is good for is keeping the radio happy,it has #### near zero to do with trans,rec...A dummy load can give you a perfect swr but it cant talk or recieve from one side of your head to the other..

that's true but I've tried many and I mean many steel antennas on the cascadia truck I drive and the highest swr I ever got was a 1:3 and lowest was a 1:00 flat the mount is the biggest issue on these pos trucks. just my opinion.TheDude1969 Thanks this.

AGAIN.....Swr is basically keeping the radio happy..Nothin else..Low swr doesnt mean you sound better or get out further..
Its not so much the mounting its the metal under the ant that gives you what everyone needs is a reflection surface for the signal to bounce off of to shoot out into the world..Sorta speak..
If you could mount the ant directly to a trucks chassie with a good coax then with half a watt you cant talk for miles and miles and when skip rolls, well its anywhere then..TheDude1969 Thanks this. -
I run a straight 8 pill in the casacadia I'm in . a 1:3 is the swr minimum or lower needed for me not to have problems... found that out from talking to fat boy Dave made and x force
-
yeap..A low swr is keeping radio/amp happy, doesnt change what i said above my friend..
-
doesn't matter I'm not here to get in a pissing match with anyone on here. I've got the best amp and antenna man there is. it took me a long time and $$$$ and experimenting to get the desired results I've got......more than half or better of these so called cb techs will say you can't run a 8 pill in a cascadia

Im not tryin to start a pissen contest either..Stateing fact is all..If your dwelling on the swr im 100% sure there more to be had(gains) from your set up with more tweeking...DO you have an analyzer and do you know how to use and understand what its telling you??
Hey if you have a killer set up in your cascadia, ill gladly take notes on what you did to get the results you have...Im running a barefoot stryker 955 and have swr's like that but i dont get the range like some others posted..I change my old coax to some lmr with amphonal ends and everything goes to hell in a hand basket..So i got something wrong that i dont know how to fix..ALWAYS room for improvement bud..TheDude1969 Thanks this.
