We've got all Freighliner Cascadias right now. Never had a problem with mine. And with them getting 40 or so more new trucks next month, they will probably retire some of the older ones out (even thought they're only like 3 years old! lol). They usually pass out the new ones to all the old timers or people who've been around for a while. But with 40 coming, they'll have a lot of seats to fill up.
I don't know much about Schneider or Werner except that they're the giants and personally I'd be hesitant to work somewhere with that many people. that old saying where you're just a number and not a real person. Don't know anything about how their pay compares or anything. All I know is that Wolding picked up my entire tuition bill, which was awesome and that they get me home whenever I ask them. Even got me on a load out to ID to visit a friend for a few days, it was sweet!

Well Angela W how did go? Haven't seen any updates. Did you pick a company, if so who did you go with...
AngelaW Thanks this. -
Yes, I did! I'm with H.O. Wolding. I'm currently out with my trainer and everything is going great. Every day I'm getting better and I'm loving it! I can't wait to get out there in my own truck! -
That's great to hear! Glad you are liking it, time will fly by when you get your own rig. Be safe out there.

The big bucks is in tankers and some companies hire new cdl grads for this. He will need hamzat and tanker endorsements. $60K - $70K for new drivers.
McKenzie Tank Lines is hiring in Jacksonville for local/regional/OTR and hires new cdl grads. Must be 23 yrs. old.
Other tank lines hire at 21 yrs. old.
Tell him to get a TWIC ID Card, which he will need for tanker work. This is needed for entry to sea ports, rail yards, chemical plants, military bases. Google for nearest TWIC office.
Dozens of companies hire Florida drivers fresh out of cdl school. Let me know what he's looking for.
FFE (Frozen Food Express) just hired a new cdl grad that lives in Tampa. They sent him to Lancaster,TX for orientation. Pretty good reefer outfit and mostly drop & hook.
Plenty more to choose from.
He can submit applicatons right now; don't wait until graduation. The more applications the better.Last edited: Nov 30, 2016
