I always tell them to put $500 on the rate con for TONU.
Ruthless and Mattflat362 Thank this. -
Fortunately the most I lost was like 3 hours of time and a 1.5 mile trip to my rig. And 30 seconds of diesel fuel :/ until the phone rang with the bad news.

Done!

Just know that I don't always get that, sometimes they negotiate it down, other times they laugh and say yeah right. Just like anything else, you can always go down, but if you quote to low there's almost a zero chance of ever going up.

This isn't new, but it is unique to TQL. If you read your rate "confirmation," it is clearly noted. At least it was 2 1/2 yrs ago on the last one I have from them. The dispatch is the golden ticket to get paid TONU. It is a separate document that you should ask to be sent immediately upon returning the rate con. The rare TQL agent that is not a jerk will usually just send both at the same time.
Terry270, double yellow, Mattflat362 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I wish I could get TONU, my two largest contracts do not allow for them under any circumstances, even when they screw up. My smaller contracts do allow them, but of course the smaller accounts are better managed and rarely screw up. I used to be able to get TONU when I was contracted directly with the auction houses but now that they forced us into using their wholly owned subsidiary brokerages the TONU was the first thing to go. In car haul in general TONU is rarely paid, if you use brokers they usually try to give you another unit in place of the cancelled one, which is good except it doesn't cover the out of route miles or wasted time as we usually do not discover the cancellation or problem with the vehicle until we arrive on site to load it. Even calling ahead to the shipper does not always identify problems or a cancellation as we usually just get lip service "yup it is all ready to go".
Terry270 and Mattflat362 Thank this. -
TQL has confirmation and dispatch, if they never dispatched you they will not pay TONU. When or if you dare take a load from them tell them to send dispatch also.
-
Oops didn't read everything, Red already covered dispatch. Also if you are sitting for to long and want detention, don't take their lip service. Make them send new confirmation.
-
Well, just got screwed for the first time. 430 miles for $1050 load got cancelled, will be payed $150 TONU and will have to deadhead those miles to take care of the next pre booked load. Will have to start asking to put $500 TONU on rate confirmations at least on the weekend loads
Terry270 Thanks this.
