I can understand they are selling a product with the intention of fuel economy, but the cb antenna, am/fm antenna and television antenna are not the best.

No, they are not and they charge a hefty fee to have all of that pre wired with the sales pitch drivers won't be hacking and drilling, destroying the equipment so a short term expense for long term gain. Unfortunately since the system is a poorly designed compromise some drivers will be hacking, drilling and destroying equipment in a effort to achieve the performance that should be designed into the system from the factory. An example would be the tv mount in my new Cascadia, a $200 plus option, I still had to drill a hole to route the antenna cable properly to the TV location with the optional factory mount.
-
At least yours has a mount. 2017 Evolution and all I got was the strap.
-
I got the strap and no shelves in my cabinets in my 16...I rarely sit long enough to need the tv so its storage for me..If i wanna watch tv,i slip in a dvd in my stereo and watch it on a small screen or use my laptop..

I ran another jumper from antenna mount to door frame. Got rid of the fail message but still getting the original message. Going to try checking swr. Needs to be below 3. Question. How do you get it to go down, raise or lower the mast? Thought about checking the swr with it hooked to original, but with an internal antenna like these, you couldn't adjust it could you without going into a shop?
-
I have no idea how you would adjust the internal antenna in the cascadias. When I moved to this one I took my antenna set up from the 2012 just disconnected the factory stuff and tucked it away to be put back when I move out of this truck. To tune your antenna usually the lower the frequency the longer the antenna so in theory your antenna would need to be longer at channel 1 than channel 40.

Swr is not really important, its just to keep radio happy BUT it does need to be half that..
There is a bunch of info required for a good ant set up so your gonna have to do some reading..
Chk swr with power turned all the way down,in a very open area...Calibrate then chk on channel 1 (26.965) 19 (27.185) and 40 (27.405)...Where your swr on each channel determines which way the whip goes..
If swr is higher on 40(27.405) lower the whip no more than about 1/8th -1/4 inch at a time...Now same with ch 1(26.965),if 1 is higher then raise whip.. -
Jimjam..chk out a site named k0bg.com..lots there to get you rollin

Thanks. I tried with the new jumper and on the calibration mode it isn't even going halfway. Swr it is in the same position (about halfway) and I can't get calibration to bump up, the cal knob I ended up with it all the way to the right wouldn't turn anymore and needle only shows halfway. So I hooked back up the internal one. Use that one until I can check out that site or get to a cb shop
-
OK. When you key in calibrate you want to be looking at the line on the meter that says Cal set and dial the calibration knob until the needle is in the little break in the line where the small arrow is. When you switch to swr mode it gives you a general reading. you do not want to set the needle past the Cal set mark on your meter when setting calibrate position.
