Even if I'm honking while looking and doing it steady, I find myself thinking that I'm definitely making a bad habit of reversing in many different situations to either to scoot back a few feet or a few yards.

Have you ever caught yourself backing for more than your full lenght to adjust and reposition yourself? Could it be a bad habit?

About the worst would be backing up at a traffic light for whatever reason. Could be a car hiding back there.

Less you back up the better. Most accidents happen while backing.

My personal record is backing 1-1/4 mile with a super b-train, never had to pull ahead once, made it in one shot. Got a little squirrely a few times. Nice wide country road, #### county didn't put the road closed sign up back at the highway, waited until I was two miles in. Had to back that far to find a driveway to turn around on.
When in doubt get out and have a look. You got to do what you got to do.

I've had to go two miles backwards down a dirt road once to get to someone's house.

Ive backed. Miles and inside and past signs that say deadly force authroized. Strange signs in the middle of nowhere near what I think was fallon, I will have to look it up.

Those kinds of stories I keep off the web. I ensure that I can sleep at night knowing there is no strike team under my window ready to take me out.

If you are honking as you back next to me at a truck stop I will make SURE you understand THAT is a bad habit.

Get your truck centered between the lines or squared and centered on the dock then you can stop. You've completed your back.

We use to have races in Reverse. With a 6&4 or a 18 a driver can hit 35mph. Once you lose your cool/over steer it's all over and on the brakes. Don't lose your cool. It's those 2 mi back outs that make you a driver. :)

That's why it's always better to back IN. ;)
