You will not be allowed to be a slob around food grade. Ive hauled food grade plus raw milk in my day. You will have a good time with tanker if that is what you want. But you cannot be a slob around this type of hauling.
You hold on to that savings and add to it, you are ahead of 90% of others who want to truck.
Where to start? Previous training fell through

So I talked to a recruiter from prime and she told me she'd send my information through and get back to me in a couple days to let me know about orientation. It's been over a week now and still no word from her. Should I go ahead and call to find out what's going on or just keep waiting?

Another option is to go to your local unemployment office and find out if they have a worker retraining program. They sometimes offer grants for people and will pay for your schooling. I worked with a guy who did this and got his CDL for free. There is a huge shortage of truckers everywhere and I would be surprised if they didn't have this type of program in your area. Another way to get your CDL would be to find a company that is willing to train you- usually its someone like a local beer distributor.

Prime Inc. trucks have APU's which is a good thing. I know of only one other tanker outfit that has APU's and that's Oakley in Florida.
Mtn Gal Thanks this. -

Tried to call and got a voicemail that's full, tried again without dialing her extension number and was told she's out today but they could connect to whoever is covering for her. Waited on the line for a minute and got the same result, another voicemail that's full.
