That is why i would keep my 955 and then buy either HF or all mode.

My TS50S and my friend 857 sound avg if not mediocre in AM mode.

And if i didn't had my 955, i would go with a simple cobra 25 with a good antenna and HF or all mode rig.

JMO, 955 is the best you can get your hands on w/ out a license... but I have one, so I guess I'd be looking for an original Magnum S9, for a backup. No fancy lighting, don't need a manual to figure all the options out, and the 955 worries me that eventually the display will fail and no one to fix it. Since it was the precursor to the Stryker brand I'm guessing it would be the 2nd best radio.

well I've run both radios the magnum is a naturally very loud radio. I had a guy tell me one time coming into a trk stop that my radio sounds like s--t. I told him I know better.he said I should throw it out the window and then tell him where I threw it.the magnum definitely walks the dog and kicks the cat. I drive a straight 8 with both radios. although I rarely turn it on. I don't have too.

I'm more than sure mark could fix any problem that radio could encounter.... that 955 is a totally bad ### radio. I'm thinking about buying one and putting my 300 watt amp off my magnum under it.but most likely will not.the magnum I have is the very best radio I've ever owned. and I've had just about every brand name radio out there. thru the year's

    TheDude1969 Thanks this.

well that's the thing I buy what I want to buy with my $$$$ and you buy what you want to buy with your $$$$. I've been a truck driver for a long long time.I'm in a truck that's moving almost all the time.more than most.my results audio receive power meaning watts. talking skip are always going to be different than a stationary base station....most all the radios out here meaning cb's do not do the power they say they do.or amps for that matter.put a radio or amp on a wavenode and you will see that !!!!!!!!!
