If it's 90 degrees outside and your thermo is set at say 65, how often is the truck going to turn on and run for in between cycles? Does this still violate anti-idling laws?
Do you think all trucks will have APU's on them in the near/distant future to combat fuel prices, carbon emissions, etc?

Wratherax,
I would say it's going to be running quite a bit given those numbers. But it also depends on how you have the variance set. The opti idle is set so when the tractor reaches the temp you have it set for the tractor shuts down. Once the temp in the cab reaches the variance you have it set for which if I remember right the three settings are 3 degree 7 degrees and 10 degrees . Those numbers could be wrong it's been awhile since I have been in and opti Idle truck, But anyways lets say for the sake of this post you have it set for 3 degrees. Well if you have the cab set for 65 like you said when the temp rises to 68 the truck will kick back on to cool the cab back down to 65 then the truck will shut off again . Personally I would set it at about 68-70 and choose the 7 degree variance if I wanted to truck to run less . You must be a polar bear wanting it set down to 65 .. LOL... Anyways I hoped that helped you .. God bless you ! -
I like piling layers of blankets on top of me at night and setting the temp for 60 degrees lol It's super comfy but makes me REALLY not want to get out of bed in the morning
That's at home, anyway. In the truck, I'd probably do what you do to keep the truck from turning on and off so much.
I can't wait to start driving lol. I just got my sister's old laptop working again (IBM Thinkpad) to take with me on the road when I get my own truck. Just need a Mobile Broadband connection now. I'm a computer tech junkielol

Did you leave before they built the Arena? This area's starting to grow again every since it's construction. It's not great but at least it's getting better.

the whole wilkes barre area is now a drug infested slum, ever since the lowlifes started moving in from the ghetto's around jersey and philly the whole area turned to a sewer.

That may be true, but I never go into Wilkes-Barre anyway (unless I'm driving through). As far as drugs go, I wouldn't have a clue how bad it was in the past or the present. Hell, I never even tried smoking a cigarette, let alone doing anything that's not legal.
